A special event this Friday at 1 p.m. at the D23 Expo in the Anaheim Convention Center celebrates the power of imagination and the magic of Disney storytelling. Disney will donate $500,000 and 8 million Disney Publishing Worldwide books to First Book, a national nonprofit organization that provides new books to children in need. Disney’s enduring commitment to kids, families and communities will be front and center at the event, as Disney Publishing Worldwide and Disney Junior highlight the emotional connection that generations of kids and families have to Disney’s iconic stories and beloved characters.
Tween girls won’t want to miss the fashion event of the year — the Disney Fashion Show at D23 Expo, the ultimate Disney fan event, featuring new back-to-school and fall fashions plus holiday looks, and a sneak preview of spring 2012 styles. Celebrity guests from Disney Channel’s hit buddy comedy series Shake It Up will make a special appearance including Bella Thorne (CeCe); Zendaya (Rocky); Adam Irigoyen (Deuce Martinez); Davis Cleveland (Flynn); Kenton Duty (Gunther); Roshon Fegan (Ty); Caroline Sunshine (Tinka) and R. Brandon Johnson (Gary Wilde). For fans who can’t attend the Expo, Disney Consumer Products is collaborating with Stardoll.com, the largest tween site for girls who love fashion, to stream the event live online and host a virtual boutique at the Disney Fashion Lounge. The fashion magic happens Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. PDT in the D23 Expo Arena or on Stardoll.com.
PBe among the first to watch ABC’s most anticipated new fall series and animated holiday special and to have a chance to learn the secrets behind how they were made. Fans will have those opportunities at the D23 Expo, where the entire world of Disney comes together, August 19 and 20, at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Late last week, Acme Archives revealed some of the art being released later this week at the Disney D23 Expo, including naming a few of the Expo exclusives. Among the collection of art, shown below, is a 25th Anniversary tribute to Pixar Animation Studios by artist Dave Perillo. Perillo most recently caused a stir at the San Diego Comic Con with his Muppets piece and SDCC exclusive variant, which had no problem selling out. Like SDCC, there will be a D23 Expo exclusive variant of the Disney/Pixar piece, which prominently features Luxo Jr. in the upper left-hand corner.
For three incredible days beginning August 19, fans of Disney entertainment will revel in new discoveries, special panels and presentations, movie screenings, celebrity appearances and autograph signings, plus new insights into movies, TV shows, theme parks, animation, Disney history, and more. It’s all part of Disney’s D23 Expo 2011 from August 19–21 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

In anticipation of the ‘Once Upon A Time’ pilot screening and Q&A with show creators and executive producers, Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, at Disney D23 Expo on Saturday, August 20 at 12:45 pm, ABC has provided us with newly updated character posters from the series. The most obvious difference between these posters and those previously released at San Diego Comic Con is the updated logo for the show.

Marvel is coming to Anaheim this year to make its historic debut at D23, the ultimate Disney fan event, and it’s pulling out all the stops!
On Sunday, August 21, at 10:15 a.m. in the Arena, join them for Marvel: The House of Ideas, an exclusive and unprecedented experience that will take you through the evolution of Marvel from its first comic book in 1939 to its current position as one of the most important creative forces in the world. During this presentation, which will include interactive Q&A segments, attendees will not only get an inside glimpse of the history of Marvel and its iconic Super Heroes but also discover why Marvel truly is the House of Ideas. This session will be hosted by Joe Quesada, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer and one of the most respected and sought-after writers and artists in the entertainment industry.
Disney artist Robert Olszewski has announced that he will be releasing a few new items at the Disney D23 Expo beginning on Friday, August 19. Among his new pieces will be a 2011 D23 Expo PokitPal (pictured) available exclusively to D23 members for $19.95.
Also being introduced at the Expo is Gallery of Light entries ‘Baby of Mine‘ inspired by Dumbo and ‘Talk to Crush‘ from Finding Nemo, both of which will retail for $85, Olszewski Miniature Disneyland Main Street, USA addition ‘Pinocchio’s Daring Journey,’ which will retail for $425 and an Heirloom Boxes Collection – Paper Clip Series entry, Sleeping Beauty Maleficent which will retail for $30. Olszewksi will also be displaying a new Fantasyland platform.
