The constant screams in the D23 Expo Arena stemming from hundreds of fans was the only Expo schedule you needed to know that they would soon be entertained by the stars of one of the most successful tv series in Disney Channel history, ‘Shake It Up.’
This will probably be the last official update we’ll be sharing with you, prior to the start of our extensive 2011 Disney D23 Expo coverage, but there will more than likely be additional things to note prior to the event, so you will want to stay in touch with us via Twitter and Facebook to keep on top of things.
Although the D23 Expo officially begins Friday, August 19, we’ll be starting our coverage on Thursday afternoon with early looks at shopping opportunities, sneak peeks at the Disney Parks’ ‘Carousel of Projects’ Pavilion, the Treasures of the Walt Disney Studios Archives and more. The extensive coverage is being supplemented by the incredible talent of Stitch Kingdom’s own Kelly Noble as well as (hopefully) a few additional contributors along the way.
It appears Halloween has come a day early as new information for ‘Disney Universe’ from Disney Interactive Studios has surfaced today rather than the original anticipated date of August 18, otherwise known as Disney D23 Expo-eve. Although we expect to see more character costumes and screenshots within the next day or so, Disney has released a new gameplay trailer featuring The Lion King, one of six worlds that will come with the game initially, with more promised in the way of Downloadable Content on the PlayStation 3 and Microsoft Xbox platforms in the future. Other previously share worlds include Disney/Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. and WALL-E along with Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.
A special event this Friday at 1 p.m. at the D23 Expo in the Anaheim Convention Center celebrates the power of imagination and the magic of Disney storytelling. Disney will donate $500,000 and 8 million Disney Publishing Worldwide books to First Book, a national nonprofit organization that provides new books to children in need. Disney’s enduring commitment to kids, families and communities will be front and center at the event, as Disney Publishing Worldwide and Disney Junior highlight the emotional connection that generations of kids and families have to Disney’s iconic stories and beloved characters.
Tween girls won’t want to miss the fashion event of the year — the Disney Fashion Show at D23 Expo, the ultimate Disney fan event, featuring new back-to-school and fall fashions plus holiday looks, and a sneak preview of spring 2012 styles. Celebrity guests from Disney Channel’s hit buddy comedy series Shake It Up will make a special appearance including Bella Thorne (CeCe); Zendaya (Rocky); Adam Irigoyen (Deuce Martinez); Davis Cleveland (Flynn); Kenton Duty (Gunther); Roshon Fegan (Ty); Caroline Sunshine (Tinka) and R. Brandon Johnson (Gary Wilde). For fans who can’t attend the Expo, Disney Consumer Products is collaborating with Stardoll.com, the largest tween site for girls who love fashion, to stream the event live online and host a virtual boutique at the Disney Fashion Lounge. The fashion magic happens Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. PDT in the D23 Expo Arena or on Stardoll.com.
PBe among the first to watch ABC’s most anticipated new fall series and animated holiday special and to have a chance to learn the secrets behind how they were made. Fans will have those opportunities at the D23 Expo, where the entire world of Disney comes together, August 19 and 20, at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Late last week, Acme Archives revealed some of the art being released later this week at the Disney D23 Expo, including naming a few of the Expo exclusives. Among the collection of art, shown below, is a 25th Anniversary tribute to Pixar Animation Studios by artist Dave Perillo. Perillo most recently caused a stir at the San Diego Comic Con with his Muppets piece and SDCC exclusive variant, which had no problem selling out. Like SDCC, there will be a D23 Expo exclusive variant of the Disney/Pixar piece, which prominently features Luxo Jr. in the upper left-hand corner.
For three incredible days beginning August 19, fans of Disney entertainment will revel in new discoveries, special panels and presentations, movie screenings, celebrity appearances and autograph signings, plus new insights into movies, TV shows, theme parks, animation, Disney history, and more. It’s all part of Disney’s D23 Expo 2011 from August 19–21 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
Exciting details about the activities and events planned for the three days of Disney’s D23 Expo 2011 have been announced, and a complete, up-to-the-minute schedule can be found online at www.D23Expo.com. Tickets for D23 Expo 2011, which is open to the general public, are available at D23Expo.com, and are available for individual days or for the full three days of this Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
It’s been too long since there’s been a special Disney D23 Expo update and we have too much to share with you, so there’s a good chance stuff will be forgotten here and for that, we apologize. That said, here are a bunch of mouse-cellaneous updates you will be sure to appreciate knowing when visiting the Disney D23 Expo next weekend, August 19-21.
In anticipation of the ‘Once Upon A Time’ pilot screening and Q&A with show creators and executive producers, Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, at Disney D23 Expo on Saturday, August 20 at 12:45 pm, ABC has provided us with newly updated character posters from the series. The most obvious difference between these posters and those previously released at San Diego Comic Con is the updated logo for the show.
For those who haven’t caught the buzz of these new drama, here’s a sneak peek (posters below):
