Kids’ Votes Determine How Disney Will Divide $1 Million in Donations Among Environmental Causes
BURBANK, Calif., May 14, 2009 — The Walt Disney Company today announced Disney’s Friends for Change: Project Green, a multiplatform environmental initiative that will help kids help the planet. Disney stars Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are among the 29 young stars participating in outreach messages to debut on Disney Channel, Disney XD, Radio Disney and Disney.com. The Disney’s Friends for Change: Project Green initiative invites young people to join together to help the environment across four key areas: climate, water, waste and habitats. Kids will learn practical ways to preserve the planet, track their collective impact and have the opportunity to vote on how $1 million in donations from Disney will be divided and invested in various environmental causes over the course of a year.
Radio Disney to Premiere New Duet by Hannah Montana and David Archuleta May 2
Radio Disney will present the world premiere of a new song from Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” on SATURDAY, MAY 2 (6:00 p.m., ET/3:00 p.m., PT) during its Planet Premiere feature. “I Wanna Know You,” a duet by Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana and American Idol’s David Archuleta, will be featured in a new episode of the hit series on Sunday, May 3 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.

Miley Cyrus to Surprise ‘Hannah Montana the Movie’ Audiences During Opening Weekend
Miley Cyrus, star of Walt Disney Pictures’ “Hannah Montana The Movie,” announced exclusively on Disney.com today that she will be surprising unsuspecting audiences during her film’s opening weekend.
It’s all part of Disney’s new Opening Weekend Surprise program, in which moviegoers who show up to the theatre for a 2009 Walt Disney Pictures film during its national opening weekend could be treated to a truly magical Disney experience. This might include surprise in-theater appearances by talent from the film, live performances and more. Moviegoers won’t know in advance which cities, theaters or show times will be selected.
“I’m so excited to have the opportunity to surprise my fans this weekend. I’m really proud of ‘Hannah Montana The Movie,’ and wanted to do something special to reward the loyal Disney fans who show up opening weekend.”
Along with this announcement, Disney has launched Disney.com/surprise, a web site dedicated to giving fans an exclusive behind-the-scenes perspective of each Opening Weekend Surprise. Fans can visit the site now for a special message from Miley, and can return on Monday, April 13 for coverage of the surprises, plus a special treat.
