Disney XD has ordered “Wasabi Warriors” (working title), a live action comedy set at the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy, a strip mall martial arts studio and worst dojo in the underperforming nationwide Bobby Wasabi chain. There, a ragtag crew of lovable misfits welcomes a hotshot skateboarder named Jack, who will teach a group of neighborhood goofballs about life, karate and how to just plain kick it. The multi-camera series will begin production in Hollywood in January for a 2011 premiere around the world. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.
Located in a strip mall, the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy is in danger of closing until Sensei Rudy recruits Jack, the only person who can restore glory to Bobby Wasabi and vanquish their bitter rival The Golden Dragon. Jack reluctantly joins the dojo and meets his new crew — tough guy and slacker Jerry, awkward yet confident Milton and the lovable and uncoordinated Eddie. These underdogs soon realize their newfound friendship will take them places they never quite imagined.
Marsh said, “By weaving martial arts into the fabric of a traditional situation comedy, we’ve created a completely unique sitcom form. Plus, by pairing our star Leo Howard — a real life black-belt martial artist — with a brilliant comedian like Jason Earles, we’ve tipped the scales towards success.”
Starring are Jason Earles (“Hannah Montana”) as Rudy, Leo Howard (Disney Channel’s short-form series “Leo Little’s Big Show”) as Jack, Mateo Arias (“Cold Case,” “Hannah Montana,”) as Jerry, Dylan Riley Snyder (“Life During Wartime”) as Milton, Alex Jones as Eddie and Olivia Holt (“Black & Blue”) as Kim.
The series was created by Jim O’Doherty (“Grounded for Life,” “3rd Rock from the Sun”) who, with Marc Warren (“JONAS L.A.,” “Cory in the House,”"That’s So Raven”), serves as Executive Producer. Joey Scott (“Growing Pains”) is the producer. “Wasabi Warriors” is produced by It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc.

TGIS! ‘Girl Meets World with Selena Gomez’ Premieres on Disney Channel September 10
Teen superstar Selena Gomez lights up the screen in “Girl Meets World with Selena Gomez,” a new short-form series that provides viewers insights into Selena’s point of view about her life and career and the inspiration she receives from her family and fans. Filmed on location throughout Europe, the special shows Selena performing in concert and recording her second album. It will be presented in three parts on Friday, September 10 (between 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
“A Year Without Rain” releases worldwide Tuesday, September 21 on Hollywood Records. The song “Round & Round” from the album is now Gold certified and the #1 song on Radio Disney. Gomez’s first album, “Kiss & Tell,” debuted in the Billboard Top 10 and is Gold certified. Its big hit, “Naturally,” is Platinum certified.
Gomez’s breakthrough series, Emmy Award-winning “Wizards of Waverly Place,” is currently in its fourth season on Disney Channel. In 2011 she will star in the highly anticipated sequel to the Emmy Award-winning “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie.”
“Girl Meets World with Selena Gomez” was executive-produced and directed by Mike Sarkissian and Tim Wheeler (Jonas Brothers “When You Look Me In The Eyes”). It is a production of Three Foot Giant.

‘Pair of Kings’ with Mitchel Musso and Doc Shaw to Premiere on Disney XD September 22
Disney Channel fan favorites Mitchel Musso (Oliver on “Hannah Montana,” Jeremy on “Phineas and Ferb”) and Doc Shaw (Marcus on “The Suite Life on Deck”) will cross over to headline their own comedy adventure series, “Pair of Kings,” premiering WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on sibling channel Disney XD. The series follows the fraternal twins who must relocate from their Chicago home to the island of Kinkow after they learn they are the rightful heirs to the throne of this odd kingdom, one filled with peculiar superstitions and customs – and one that may not be ready for two teenage kings. Disney Channel will give Musso and Shaw a royal send off with a “Pair of Kings” hour-long special, featuring the two stars in candid interstitials, on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 (9:00 p.m. ET/PT).
“Pair of Kings” follows Brady and Boomer, who lead a typical teenage life while being raised by their aunt and uncle in Chicago, but unbeknownst to them, they’re successors to the throne of the island of Kinkow. When Mason the Royal Advisor informs the boys of their extraordinary lineage, Brady and Boomer relocate to the island to claim their throne as joint Kings. Brady and Boomer rely on their new island friends for guidance in ruling the island filled with odd superstitions and customs. Their efforts are helped and hindered by Mason, the intimidating royal guard; Mikayla, Mason’s adorable daughter and assistant to the kings; and Lanny, their disgruntled cousin and wannabe king, who’s out to sabotage them and steal the throne.
Starring are Mitchel Musso (“Hannah Montana,” “Phineas and Ferb”) as Brady, Doc Shaw (“The Suite Life on Deck,” “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne”) as Boomer, Kelsey Chow (Disney Channel’s “Den Brother,” “One Tree Hill”) as Mikayla, Ryan Ochoa (Disney’s “A Christmas Carol”) as Lanny, Geno Segers (touring production of Disney’s “The Lion King”) as Mason. Vincent Pastore (“The Sopranos”) voices the recurring role of Lanny’s fish Yamakoshi.
The series was created by and is executive-produced by Dan Cross and Dave Hoge (Disney XD’s “Aaron Stone,” “One on One”). Matt Wickline (“Frank TV,” “The Hughleys”) is the executive producer. Leo Clarke (“Frank TV,” “The Steve Harvey Show”) is the producer and Don Beck (“Reba,” “8 Simple Rules”) is the consulting producer. “Pair of Kings” is produced by It’s A Laugh Productions, Inc.

‘A Year Without Rain’ by Selena Gomez & The Scene to Premiere on Disney Channel and Radio Disney Sept. 3
Disney Channel will present the world premiere of Selena Gomez & The Scene’s music video, “A Year Without Rain,” from their upcoming album of the same title, on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 (10:15 p.m., ET/PT), following the premiere of “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” and a preview of the new animated comedy series “Fish Hooks.” The single will also debut on Radio Disney and will be available as a digital single and digital video that same day.
The song was written by Toby Gad (“Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam”) and Linda Robbins, and the music video was directed by Chris Dooley, who directed Gomez’s other music videos “Falling Down” and “Naturally,” as well as videos for Scissor Sisters, Marié Digby and David Bowie.
The music video was shot on location in Lucerne Valley, California.

Disney.com Kicks off New Music Site with Backstage Access to Jonas Brothers Tour
Disney.com has launched an all new music site (Disney.com/Music) that, together with Disney Music Group and Radio Disney, offers the latest and greatest in music for Disney fans. To kick off the new music hub Radio Disney’s Jake Whetter will give guests a sneak peek at his behind-the-scenes coverage of the three-continent Jonas Brothers Live in Concert tour with Special Guest Demi Lovato plus Special Friends from “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” featuring interviews and concert footage.
In addition to granting guests a sneak peek at Radio Disney.com’s behind-the-scenes access with Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, the new online music hub will also feature interviews with popular recording artists, and some of the latest music videos including “It’s On” from the Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam soundtrack, “I’m Still Good” from the Hannah Montana Forever soundtrack, and Selena Gomez’s “Round and Round.”

‘Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam: Extended Edition’ Details
The momentum continues for Disney’s “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” when Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment furthers the TV musical event of the year with the addition of two new musical numbers into the story, in Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam: Extended Edition, a Blu-ray Combo Pack & DVD, on September 7, 2010.

‘Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam’ Stars Hit the Wall in West Hollywood
The Disney Channel Original Movie Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam has taken to the road –8560 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, California to be precise.
The giant advert features the film’s stars Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, Demi Lovato and Kevin Jonas and promotes the movie which will premiere on Disney Channel on September 3.

Production Has Begun on Disney Channel Original Movie ‘Lemonade Mouth’ Starring Bridgit Mendler
Production has begun in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the music-driven “Lemonade Mouth,” a Disney Channel Original Movie that tells kids and tweens that building your confidence rocks and finding your destiny rules. The story follows five disparate high school students who meet in detention, realize they are destined to rock, and ultimately form a band that becomes a champion for students sidelined by the high school elite.
The movie was written by April Blair based on the book Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes, and is directed by award-winning Patricia Riggen (“La Misma Luna” aka “Under the Same Moon”) and executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” Disney Channel’s “The Cheetah Girls” movies) and choreographed by Chris Scott. It is scheduled to premiere in 2011 on Disney Channel.
Starring are: Bridgit Mendler (Disney Channel’s “Good Luck Charlie”) as lead vocalist Olivia White, Adam Hicks (Disney XD’s “Zeke and Luther”) as keyboardist Wen Giford, Hayley Kiyoko (Disney Channel’s “Wizards of Waverly Place”) as electric guitarist Stella Yamada, Naomi Scott (Disney Channel UK’s “Life Bites”) as bass guitarist Mohini, Blake Michael (who was discovered during an open casting call conducted by Disney Channels Worldwide) as percussionist Charlie Delgado, Nick Roux as Scott Pickett, Chris Brochu as Ray Beach from rival band Mudslide Crush, Tisha Campbell-Martin (“My Wife and Kids”) as music teacher Miss Reznick and Christopher McDonald (“Family Law”) as Principal Brenigan.
The “Lemonade Mouth” pop music soundtrack will include nine original songs by songwriters Aris Archontis, Felicia Barton, Maria Christensen, Ali Dee, Andy Dodd, Tom Leonard, Jeannie Lurie, Niclas Molinder, Chen Neeman, Joacim Persson, Lindy Robbins, Shridhar Solanki, Matthew Tishler, Bryan Todd, Reed Vertelney and Adam Watts.

Sweet Niblets! Hannah Montana Wigs Out For Good in ‘Hannah Montana Forever’ Nov 2 on DVD
In honor of the fourth and final series of Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana in which Hannah (aka Miley Stewart as played by Miley Cyrus) hangs up her wig for good, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing Hannah Montana Forever: Who is Hannah Montana? on DVD November 2, 2010.

Photo Gallery: Celebrities Come Out for Elizabeth Glaser’s ‘A Time For Heroes’ Event
The stars came out in droves yesterday in Los Angeles to show their support for the 21st Annual ‘A Time for Heroes’ Celebrity Picnic to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Sponsored by Disney, the event offered tons of activities and photo-ops for the attendees.
Guests were invited to go on safari where they met Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in safari gear along with Timon from The Lion King and other Disney friends in addition to activities such as face-painting and ‘decorate your own drum.’ Other activities included creating special kits to send to mothers and babies in Africa and India.
The event was capped off by a live performance by Jesse McCartney along with a performance by The Rhythm Train featuring Chad Smith and Leslie Bixler with special guest Dick Van Dyke.
The annual event was expected to raise approximately $1.5 million to help create a generation free of HIV. Pediatric AIDS has essentially been wiped off the face of the map in the United States, however more than 1,200 children still become infected with HIV each day around the world. The Foundation currently works at more than 4,800 sites in 17 countries to bring prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS to children, women and families. Together we can eliminate pediatric AIDS worldwide.
We were there on the red carpet as many of the celebrities made their way to the event. There were far too many celebrities to name here, but just a few attending alongside Disney President and CEO Robert Iger and wife Willow Bay were Disney stars Bella Thorne, Gregg Sulkin, Debby Ryan, Ryan Newman, Caitlyn Taylor Love, Vincent Martella, Nicole Anderson, Brandon Smith, Bridgit Mendler, Jason Dolley, Logan Miller, Roshon Fegan and more. Evan Lysacek, Sasha Cohen and Candice Davis joined the ranks of the world class athletes, not to mention dozens of others well known from television amd films, many of which you can see in our photo gallery from the event below.
