MARY DAY, SELENA GOMEZ (DISNEY CHANNEL/RICK ROWELL) Disney Channel has provided us with these sneak peeks at the first episode of its new reality prank show, ‘Prankstars,’ hosted by Mitchel Musso and featuring your favorite Disney Channel stars.

In this first clip, Mary is at an audition for a bubble gum commercial when she’s paired up with a ‘BFF’ for the ad. When Mary and her new best bud are sent off into a corner to go learn about each other, Mary learns a valuable lesson. If it walks like Selena Gomez and it quacks like Selena Gomez, it’s probably a Selena Gomez impersonator — unless you’re being pranked!

Next up is 15 year old Luke, who is recruited by Mitchel Musso to fill in for his deadbeat ex-BFF for an interview. Apparently when it comes to faking it, Luke makes the cut. He doesn’t even mind just digging in and getting his hands dirty.

Also starring in the first episode is ailing Debby Ryan who requests fan Albany fill in for her at a fashion show. It turns out Albany’s so good at the job, she’s asked to fire Debby!

‘Prankstars’ premieres on July 15 at 8 pm on Disney Channel, with new episodes premiering each month with more Disney Channel favorites.

‘Prankstars’ Featuring Disney Channel Favorites Premieres July 15

MARY DAY, SELENA GOMEZ (DISNEY CHANNEL/RICK ROWELL)

Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez, Debby Ryan and Mitchel Musso surprise their biggest fans in the premiere episode of “PrankStars,” a hidden camera series where unsuspecting tweens and teens are set up by family members and come face to face with their favorite celebrities in unpredictable and humorous situations. Premiering Friday, July 15 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on Disney Channel, the reality series is hosted by Mitchel Musso (“Pair of Kings,” “Phineas and Ferb”), who directs the pranks live from a covert mobile command center. New episodes will premiere every month featuring a roster of new stars.

In the premiere episode featuring three pranks, 14-year-old Mary is put to the test when she is paired up with Selena Gomez, disguised as a typical teenager, to learn a jingle during an audition for a fake bubble gum commercial. The hilarity continues as Debby Ryan recruits her No. 1 fan, 14-year-old Albany, to model for her upcoming fashion show, but Albany’s loyalties are tested when she is asked to fire Debby. When Mitchel Musso’s real-life best friend does not show up for an interview at a restaurant, he recruits unsuspecting patron, 15-year-old Luke, to step in for the hardest role of his life.

“PrankStars” is executive-produced by Barry Poznick (“Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”), John Stevens (“Lingo”), Charles Steenveld (“Family Game Night”) and Rick de Oliveira (“All-Star Celebrity Treasure Hunt”). Musso co-wrote and performs the theme song. The reality series is a production of ZOO Productions. It carries a TV-G parental guideline.

Disney Channel Orders Fourth Season of ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ Plus Movie Sequel

Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of its Emmy Award-winning sitcom “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and is in development on the sequel to “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” cable TV’s second-highest rated scripted telecast of all time in Total Viewers (13.5 million), Kids 6-11 and Tweens. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. Production on the fourth season is scheduled to begin in August with show runners Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio (“Married…with Children,” “Greetings from Tucson”) executive-producing. Todd J. Greenwald (“Hannah Montana,” “Saved By the Bell: The New Class”) is the series creator and also an executive producer.

The script for the Disney Channel Original Movie sequel will be written by Dan Berendsen (Disney’s “Hannah Montana: The Movie,” “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie” and the upcoming “Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam”).

In making the announcement, Marsh said, “The Emmy win this past year confirmed what we already believed — this is a cast of superstar comedic talent, backed by an inspired team of writers and producers.”

The series stars Selena Gomez (whose debut album, “Kiss & Tell,” from Hollywood Records, debuted in the Billboard Top 10 and has since become gold-certified), David Henrie, Jake T. Austin, Jennifer Stone, Maria Canals-Barrera and David DeLuise. In Season Four, Disney Channel UK star Gregg Sulkin (“As the Bell Rings” and Disney Channel’s upcoming movie, “Avalon High”) reprises his recurring guest role.

“Wizards of Waverly Place” debuted in 2007 and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program in 2009. A proven fan favorite, the sitcom has been lauded for its portrayal of Latinos and has won Alma, Imagen and NAACP Image Award nominations.

Set in New York’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, the series follows the Russo family — siblings Alex, Max and older brother Justin, each a wizard in training, and competing with each other to determine who among them will get to keep their powers forever. They live with their Italian-American father, Jerry (who was once a wizard), and their Mexican-American mother, Theresa, a mortal (who prefers that magic not be used in the house). Alex’s best friend, Harper Finkle, is the only friend who knows the Russo kids have magical powers.

New episodes of “Wizards of Waverly Place” air Fridays (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. A production of It’s a Laugh Productions for Disney Channel, the series carries a TV-G parental guideline.

The collection of value-priced fashions inspired by Gomez’s signature style will be available at Kmart stores and Kmart.com at the end of July, 2010. The collection will include junior sportswear, handbags, belts, scarves, hats, hair accessories, socks/hosiery, and–arriving in October–footwear.

“Selena Gomez is a positive role model for teens and her fans all over the world look to her for style inspiration,” said John Goodman, executive vice president, SHC Apparel and Home Fashions. “We are delighted to offer our customers the opportunity to emulate her style with affordable apparel and footwear options.”

Selena Gomez has become one of the most sought-after young stars today. She graces television screens every week on her Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place” and will next be seen on the big screen in the FOX feature film “Ramona and Beezus.” Gomez has comfortably segued into the music industry with the release of her first CD, “Kiss & Tell” for Hollywood Records, which just went gold.

In addition to acting and singing, she has started her own production company, July Moon Productions. Giving back has always been something very important to Selena and last year she was named as the youngest UNICEF Ambassador in the United States. The 60-second interstitial, featuring the message, “Join the world as we shine a light on Haiti,” has themes of connection, empowerment, compassion, outreach and being a part of a global community. It features popular Disney Channel stars Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), Emily Osment, Jason Earles (both of “Hannah Montana”), Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Brenda Song and Doc Shaw (all of “The Suite Life on Deck”) encouraging kids to explore and communicate their feelings and to get inspired to make a difference.

Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said the new interstitial is all about empowering kids. “Our hope is that we can encourage kids all over the world to share their feelings in positive ways — and simultaneously be heartened by the world’s response to those who need help.”

Established in January 2001, “Express Yourself” is designed to effectively reach Disney Channel’s audience of kids age 6-14 with a wide array of messages relevant to their demographic. The series does not reference details about specific tragedies, but includes messages that address feelings of fear and anxiety caused by world events and is instructive on how kids can deal with those feelings.
