ESPN Launches ‘ScoreCenter’ App on Samsung Internet-Enabled Televisions

ESPN has launched its ScoreCenter application, popular on devices like the iPhone and iPad, to Internet-enabled televisions.  ScoreCenter will first be available on Samsung Internet-enabled TVs via the Samsung Apps store, the world’s first HDTV-based application store.

The application provides fans with the ability to view scores and stats from a variety of sports with a touch of a button. Scoreboards and live game details can expand to include in-game stats, scores and schedules. Personalization features allow fans to customize their ScoreCenter experience by highlighting their favorite teams and leagues.  Fans can also position the application to suit their preference, including across the top, bottom or sides of the screen.  The video image adjusts accordingly, depending on the placement of the app.

Disney.com Celebrates 2010 ‘Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade’ with Exclusive Content

The countdown to the 2010 “Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade” on ABC-TV has begun!   Disney Online launched today a dedicated online destination on Disney.com for the annual holiday special, featuring behind-the-scenes and performance videos of Selena Gomez and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, as well as interviews with Debby Ryan, Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon and Ryan Seacrest.  The site also includes television tune-in information, the parade telecast schedule, a Disney-themed holiday gift guide and great ideas for holiday recipes and crafts the whole family can enjoy.

ESPN Adds ‘College Bowl Showdown’ Enhancements to Xbox 360 Service

ESPN and Xbox 360 are delivering a new and unique interactive experience for college football bowl season.  In a new software update to ESPN on Xbox LIVE available today, sports fans will be able to engage in this year’s bowl games – available live on ESPN3.com – by playing the College Bowl Showdown pick ‘em against other friends on the Xbox 360 console.  Users predict who will win each game, earn a score for predictions and compete against friends to determine a winner.

Netflix to Stream Programming from ABC, ABC Family and Disney Channel TV Networks

Netflix, Inc. (Nasdaq: NFLX) and Disney-ABC Television Group today announced a new licensing agreement between the two companies that will allow Netflix to stream hundreds of episodes from the ABC Television Network, Disney Channel and – for the first time – ABC Family over the Internet.

The agreement, brokered by Disney-ABC Domestic Television, will add significantly to the growing selection of movies and TV episodes that can be streamed from Netflix. Once made available to Netflix from Disney-ABC – which, for relevant programming, will be no earlier than 15 days after initial telecast – episodes can be streamed instantly with Netflix memberships starting at $7.99 a month.

Disney Celebrates 100 Million Fans on Facebook; Announces New Twitter Presence

On Walt Disney’s 109th birthday, The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) announced a major social media milestone as it surpassed one hundred million fans across its network of Facebook pages.

Make Way, Walt Disney World Moms Panel, the Disney Parks Insidears are Coming

Back in mid-October, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online (WDPRO) quietly obtained DisneyParksInsidears.com and several variations of the term insidears/insidear (except for the innoventive insidear.com which, according to a WHOIS search, has belonged to a third party since 2005).

So just what plans does Disney Parks and Resorts have for the Insidears? According to recent, multiple service mark applications, the Disney Parks Insidears website will feature advice and information, news and commentary in the field of travel as well as the field of entertainment. Sound familiar? Except this time, the advice will evidently come directly from the source (or the Moms Panel could simply be facing a name change,  but that makes for less of an interesting story, n’est-ce pas?)
