Sterling Knight (of Disney Channel’s hit series “Sonny With A Chance”) and Danielle Campbell (“Prison Break”) star in “StarStruck,” a music and adventure-filled Disney Channel Original Movie about Hollywood pop star Christopher Wilde who, after unexpectedly meeting Jessica Olson, a down-to-earth girl visiting from the Midwest, is faced with either following his heart or doing what’s best for his glitzy career. The movie also stars Brandon Mychal Smith (“Sonny With A Chance”) and Chelsea Staub (of Disney Channel’s “JONAS”). Filmed in Los Angeles at landmark locations including Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Boulevard, the Hollywood Sign and Grauman’s Chinese Theater, “StarStruck” premieres SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.

The story follows Jessica and her family as they visit her grandmother in Los Angeles, and she winds up by chance meeting Hollywood pop star Christopher Wilde.  It seems that Christopher has it all – fame, fortune and a big-budget Hollywood movie awaiting him – but after spending time with Jessica, he realizes he’s been missing out on something very important – being himself. As he shows her the city sites, the pair develop a friendship, but their bond is tested when Christopher publicly denies knowing her. Now Christopher must decide what is more important– being true to himself or becoming a movie star.

See Disneynature’s OCEANS and Help Save Our Oceans

Through a partnership with the Nature Conservancy, Disney will donate $.20 for each ticket sold during the first week of the theatrical release of Disneynature’s OCEANS (with a minimum donation of $100,000).

The donation will go towards a new Adopt-a-Coral-Reef program focusing on The Bahamas which aims to save 500,000 acres of threatened coral reef, accounting for 30% of the reef in the Atlantic Ocean.

As a result of attendance during the first week of Disneynature’s first US film, EARTH, Disney helped plant 2.7 million trees in the rainforests of Brazil.

For more information on the program, visit the The Nature Conservancy.

The Muppets Join Computer Generated Toys and ‘Disneyland Dreams’ in National Film Registry

In 1988, the National Film Preservation Act was introduced into law, creating a National Film Preservation Board and, with it, a National Film Registry which are a selection of American films, nominated by the public and chosen by the Library of Congress, which are deemed to be ‘culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.’ Up to 25 can be selected each year out of a total of 50 nominations (in its inagural year, almost 1,000 films were been nominated).

Script Review: The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made (or is it?)

Although a much earlier draft of The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller had been reviewed elsewhere before, when I was offered the opportunity to take a look at a much more recent draft (dated 10/30/09, aka post-D23), I jumped.

It was at the D23 Expo in early September where then-Walt Disney Studios President Dick Cook offered up a strong Muppets song & dance number before announcing the title of the film, The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, a nod towards an old a project Muppets writer Jerry Juhl was reported to have been working on for years, even alongside Jim Henson.

Enter the recent draft which still bears the original working title. Whether the D23 announced title sticks or whether the existing script will be scrapped and be completely re-written remains to be seen, but what is evident is that neither title seems appropriate for the film.

It is clear that Judd Apatow-protege Jason Segel is a fan of the Muppets as well as his writing parter Nicholas Stoller (who used to write for Segel on Apatow’s Undeclared before co-writing Forgetting Sarah Marshall with him), but unfortunately, that’s about all that’s clear in this film paved with good intentions.

Sneak Peek of Toy Story 3 Now Available Online (Video)

This past weekend, ABC Family presented a sneak peek at the upcoming Toy Story 3 along with a brief introduction by director Lee Unkrich. The clip, just short of two minutes, shows the beginning of the film where Andy, who is now preparing to head to college, needs to decide which toys to keep, which to store in the attic and which get thrown out. This is basically the same clip that we saw during the Toy Story 3 presentation at the D23 Expo (in 2D) and I remember being shocked when Andy makes one of his decisions. Check it out below, courtesy of Disney/Pixar.
