The momentum continues for Disney’s “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” when Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment furthers the TV musical event of the year with the addition of two new musical numbers into the story, in Camp Rock 2 The Final Jam: Extended Edition, a Blu-ray Combo Pack & DVD, on September 7, 2010.
As we previously announced, you can bring home the ‘#1 animated film of the year,’ Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 on Disney Blu-ray and DVD on November 2, 2010. This is confirmed by Amazon.com which now lists the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy (not displayed here), Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack and DVD editions available for pre-order. Each of the Blu-ray sets consists of two Blu-ray discs.
Although it’s not listed as of yet, we do anticipate at least one more edition of the film to become available, that of the BD 3D/Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, but that one is curiously missing at this time. Reportedly there will be no 3D Blu-ray edition of the film as previously announced.
StarGreetz, Inc., a company specializing in personalized phone messages from celebrities (fictional and not), launched their iPhone App today, aptly titled StarGreetz.
As of the time of this writing, NFL Philadelphia Eagles player Brandon Graham stands alone as the only actual human lending his voice to the message service, the rest of the contributors are some of the most popular Disney characters of all time. Disney/Pixar characters such as Sheriff Woody and Doc Hudson and Nightmare Before Christmas’ Jack Skellington join classic Disney favorites such as Cinderella, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Donald Duck and even Minnie Mouse (with more on the way).
We try not to be one for rumor-mongering, but we couldn’t help that with all the talk lately of classic Disney animated properties being translated into live-action films such as Sleeping Beauty / Maleficent, Cinderella, Tinker Bell, et al., along with recently discovered photos, that there may be another well-loved property making its way to the big screen in living color. The company has already had some success in adapting a live-action version of 101 Dalmations, so there clearly would be precedent.
Walt Disney Studios has announced release dates for two more of its upcoming pictures.
Frankenweenie, the 3D stop-motion, feature-length adaptation of Tim Burton’s short film of the same name (and found on The Nightmare Before Christmas DVD), is set for March 9, 2012. Although no official synopsis has yet been released, the dark comedy centers around a young boy named Victor who loses his dog in a car accident, only to bring him back to life a la Frankenstein. The short is often cited as the key reason for Burton’s initial departure as an employee of the Studios.

On the official Facebook page for Tangled, Walt Disney Animation Studios has shared this new piece of concept art which shows how Rapunzel has opted to bide her time as an avid painted for 18 years locked in the tower.
As a plus, it would also seem to double as fine target practice for her chameleon pal, Pascal.

Walt Disney Studios and Miramax Films have just sent us some amazing new stills from some of their upcoming holiday releases which we have added to our existing galleries.
First up is The Tempest from famed director and Broadway wizard Julie Taymor. In her big-screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s mystical thriller The Tempest, Academy Award®–nominated Julie Taymor (“Across the Universe,” “Frida,” “Titus”) brings an original dynamic to the story by changing the gender of the sorcerer Prospero into the sorceress Prospera, portrayed by Oscar® winner Helen Mirren (“The Queen”). Prospera’s journey spirals through vengeance to forgiveness as she reigns over a magical island, cares for her young daughter, Miranda, and unleashes her powers against shipwrecked enemies in this exciting, masterly mix of romance, tragicomedy and the supernatural. The Tempest opens in limited release on December 10 and wide release one week later on December 17.
Walt Disney Studios has just provided us with the official synopsis for its upcoming teen dramedy Prom, written by Katie Wech. Wech, who has only Prom and a couple of episodes of the cable television program Stephen King’s Dead Zone under her credit belt, is also listed by IMDB as working on Wings, which appears to be another Disney project, based on the novel by Aprilynne Pike and set to star Miley Cyrus. The first in a series of supernatural romances for tweens, Wings centers around a fifteen year old named Laurel who ends up learning that her awkward stages are a bit more to deal with than most.
According to a photo of an in-store retail advertisement posted on The Digital Bits, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will be releasing Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 on Disney Blu-ray and DVD on November 2. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but it’s hard to debate with a photo (at least one that hasn’t been modified). This would place the film one week ahead of the rumored release date for Finding Nemo of November 9.
