Walt Disney Studios and DisneyToon Studios have provided us with newly released stills from Planes: Fire & Rescue (July 18, 2014), which have been added to the beginning of our gallery below.
Broadway and television stars Christian Borle, Megan Hilty and Tom Cavanaugh lead the voice cast of the animated Lucky Duck, the first Disney Junior Original Movie. Geared towards kids age 2-7 and their families, the adventure at sea tells the story of a trio of misfit tub toys in search of the kids who will love them just the way they are. Lucky Duck premieres Friday, June 20 on Disney Junior at 7:00 pm ET/PT and Saturday, June 21 on Disney Channel at 9:00 am ET/PT. It will be also available for verified users on the WATCH Disney Junior app for smartphones and tablets and on WATCHDisneyJunior.com beginning Friday, June 6.
In support of yesterday’s release of the first teaser trailer for Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (October 10, 2014), Walt Disney Studios has provided us with the first teaser poster in high resolution as well as several stills which you will find in our new gallery embedded below.
In the episode, the wicked fairy, Miss Nettle (voiced by guest star Megan Mullally), disguises herself as a powerful sorceress and attempts to steal Sofia’s magical amulet. With the help of Snow White, Sofia must learn to trust her instincts and speak up when she suspects someone is not who or what they say they are. It features an original song titled ‘All You Desire’ as performed by Sascha the sorceress.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has announced that Sleeping Beauty: Diamond Edition will be available to own on Blu-ray on October 7, 2014. It will also be available in Digital HD and Disney Movies Anywhere same day.
The 2-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray Superset (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy) contains digitally restored picture and sound, a digital copy of the film, and a variety of magical new bonus features, including ‘Once Upon A Parade,’ in which ‘Modern Family’ star Sarah Hyland tells us the tale of Walt Disney World’s new ‘Festival Of Fantasy Parade,’ ‘Art of Evil: Generations Of Disney Villains,’ a legacy piece spotlighting Disney’s favorite villain animator and Maleficent creator Marc Davis, and ‘@DisneyAnimation: Artists in Motion,’ in which Walt Disney Animation Visual Development artist Brittney Lee goes through the process of creating a three dimensional sculpture of Maleficent, completely out of paper.
From the world of Cars soars Planes: Fire & Rescue, a new comedy-adventure featuring a quirky crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of wildfire air attack. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous air attack team, including spirited super scooper Lil’ Dipper (Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire, and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.
Ahead of any official announcements, Amazon has begun listing several Disney films slated for a blu-ray release on August 12, 2014. While the domestic version of the site currently lists dates for just a couple of the titles on DVD format, Amazon Canada is being more forthcoming about the titles and the release date — if they are indeed correct.
The complete list of titles expected to be released on August 12 (so far) are: Tarzan; Hercules; The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad; Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers (10th Anniversary); and Bedknobs And Broomsticks: Special Edition.

Via Moviefone, Walt Disney Studios has released its first clip from Maleficent (May 30, 2014), titled ‘Awkward Situation.’ The clip, which can be found embedded below, features Angelina Jolie killing it as Maleficent, inviting herself to the christening of baby Aurora. What’s particularly of note in this clip (and the full scene in general) is how much it borrows from the 1959 Sleeping Beauty, particularly the dialogue.
Another day and the Maleficent publicity machine continues to crank out tons of fascinating images, both conceptual and straight from the actual film. Walt Disney Studios has once again provided us with several newly released high-res stills from Maleficent, in theaters May 30, 2014, as well as more concept art. Both the new stills and concept art have been added to the beginning of their respective galleries embedded below.
