Walt Disney Studios has provided us with several newly released hi-res stills from its upcoming feature, Saving Mr. Banks, which have been added to the beginning of our gallery of images from the film below. In addition to the new stills, we also received our first behind-the-scenes image which features Thompson consulting with screenwriter Kelly Marcel.
In honor of Saving Mr. Banks which shares the previously untold story of what it took for Walt Disney to bring Mary Poppins to the movies, Walt Disney Studios has released several behind-the-scenes photos, concept art, sketches by screenwriter Don DaGradi (as seen below) and more. Pictured left is a rarely seen photo of Richard and Robert Sherman singing along with Julie Andrews, Dick Van Dyke and Irwin Kostal, while pictured below is a sketch by DaGradi featuring P.L. Travers during ‘the trial — I mean conference.’
In support of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Diamond Select has shared these first look images at the brand new ‘Winter Soldier’ Marvel Select action figure based on his appearance in recent issues of his self-titled comic book.
Sculpted by Jean St. Jean, the 7-inch figure has 16 points of articulation, and comes with a pistol, machine gun and sniper rifle, as well as a shattered window display base. Figure and base come packaged in the Select line’s familiar display packaging, with side-panel art for shelf reference. The figure will be available exclusively at Disney Store later this month.
ASIFA-Hollywood announced nominations today for its 41st Annual Annie Awards recognizing the year’s best in the field of animation. The Annie Awards cover 30 categories and include Best Animated Feature, Best Animated Special Production, Commercials, Short and Outstanding Individual Achievements.
Best Animated Feature, Frozen, Monsters University and The Wind Rises are up against Despicable Me 2, Ernest & Celestine and The Croods. Frozen and Monsters University also dominated with nine other nominations each in the following categories:
In addition to the release of the new trailer for Muppets Most Wanted earlier today, Walt Disney Studios has also launched a small viral-type website for Badguy Management, found at BadguyTalent.com. The site provides a message from Badguy Management CEO, Dominic Badguy (portrayed by Ricky Gervais) and serves as an open call for finding new talent for Badguy (pronouned Bad-GEE — it’s French, afterall) to represent. The website also features a live phone number (213-293-5218) which doles out a small message from Badguy, but it’s not much to write home about to be blunt.
Marvel Entertainment, LLC and Huffy, the leading bike manufacturer in the United States, have announced that they will develop a new line of bicycles, tricycles, scooters and accessories that will introduce Super Heroic action and fun to the category. The new products will be a major expansion in the bike category for Marvel with innovations in the space that will transform the bike into an essential piece of gear for kids to play out their Super Hero missions. Focusing on Marvel’s main franchises, including new films like Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Columbia Pictures’ The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the new line will roll out to stores in the Spring and Fall of 2014. The addition of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy into the mix, also introduces Marvel’s newest heroes and furthers the reach of this highly anticipated extension of the Marvel Universe.

In honor of the trailer for Disney Touchstone Pictures’ domestic distribution of Studio Ghibli’s The Wind Rises being released yesterday, Disney has also quietly launched several social media accounts to support the releases on February 21, 2014 (limited) and February 28 (wide).
TheWindRisesMovie.com now forwards to a Tumblr account (which you can follow by using this link). Additionally a Twitter account has been established at @WindRisesFilm and Facebook page. The Tumblr page also links to a press kit which offers some background on the film along with some fun facts.
The Walt Disney Studios updated its award site earlier today and added the full recording to ‘Let It Go’ from the original motion picture soundtrack (available for pre-order via Amazon and iTunes) as it is performed in the film by Elsa (Idina Menzel).
It can be found at the bottom of the Frozen music page, which is also intended to highlight the score, composed by Christophe Becke (only the song by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez — which Disney hopes to score recognition for best song — appears to be currently available, however). It’s been posted to their site in OGG format.
