Calling all aspiring inventors! It’s time to channel your inner Iron Man/Tony Stark and let your inventing imagination go wild. Discovery Science Center, Broadcom Foundation and Marvel Studios, along with Visa Signature and the famous El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, are proud to team up to sponsor a nationwide Marvel’s Iron Man 3: Inventor and Innovator Fair in conjunction with the May 3rd release of Marvel’s Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr.
We have just a few more days before Oz the Great and Powerful debuts in theaters nationwide on March 8, 2013 and so far we’ve seen plenty of images of the mystical land and its inhabitants. Today, Walt Disney Studios has decided to share with us stills of a couple of characters from Oscar Digg/Oz’s world in Kansas, where he performs in the traveling Baum Brothers Circus. While we have a photo of the sideshow Strongman (portrayed by Tim Holmes), we also have a photo of a young lady who bears a striking resemblance to actress Joey King. How’s that? You know how the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz ends (the book itself does not share the same ending in the slightest), so it’s only fair that you know just how this prequel begins. It’s already been shared that Zach Braff, who voices Finley, also serves as Oz’s assistant in Kansas. In fact, there may be even another friendly face or two in the opening scenes, so you’ll want to keep an eye out.
Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Ahead of any official announcement, Amazon.com has begun listing Disney’s direct-to-video Super Buddies on Blu-ray for a release of August 27, 2013.
While we are currently short on plot de-tails (yes, we went there), it’s not hard to imagine what Budderball, B-Dawg, Rosebud, Buddha and Mudbud are up to in this super puppy romp, but it’s pretty much a given it will be cute. We have, however, managed to dig up this official synopsis:
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a new digital restoration of Who Framed Roger Rabbit in celebration of the film’s 25th anniversary on Thursday, April 4, at 7:30 pm at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The evening will feature a post-screening onstage discussion with director Robert Zemeckis and members of the cast and crew, including actress Joanna Cassidy, voice actor Charles Fleischer, supervising animator Andreas Deja, screenwriter Peter S. Seaman and associate producers Don Hahn and Steve Starkey. The panel will be moderated by director Rich Moore, who received an Oscar® nomination for Animated Feature Film for Wreck-It Ralph this past year.
Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have shared with us a few new hi-res stills from Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3, in theaters on May 3, 2013. Of particular interest is the image of a smirking Aldrich Killian (Guy Pearce), founder of Extremis developer A.I.M, entering the Stark Industries Headquarters with right-hand-woman Pepper Potts (Paltrow) not looking quite as pleased. The other stills feature Stark hard at work in what appears to be a garage/shed of some sort (with what appears to be a bit of the Iron Man suit lurking in the background) and Stark (in Team A.I.M. clothing) alongside Rhodes (Cheadle).
Courtesy of Walt Disney Studios New Zealand, we have a new clip from Disney’s upcoming Oz the Great and Powerful (in theaters March 8) titled ‘China Girl Joins the Party.’ Although we have seen many photos of China Girl to date, this is the first clip that actually shows her talking and interacting with fellow Ozians. In this case, it’s Oscar Diggs/Oz (James Franco) and Finley (voice of Zach Braff) after encountering her in China Town while in pursuit of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Walt Disney Studios and DisneyToon Studios are expected to announced today that comedian-slash-actor Dane Cook will be replacing Jon Cryer as the voice of Dusty Crophopper, the the protagonist of its upcoming theatrical release Planes. This news comes just as a new trailer for the film is expected (and previously leaked online), featuring the characters speaking for the first time.
A new international poster for Disney/Pixar’s Monsters University has been released and it’s chock full of characters from the film along with several confirmations (such as Randy Boggs (aka Randall) being affiliated with the Roar Omega Roar (ROR) fraternity as well as George Sanderson being in Jaws Theta Chi (JOX)), but what’s perhaps most telling is that none of the Omega Kappa (OK) students are in their respective uniforms. Instead, Mike, Sulley, Don, Squishy, Terri & Terry and Art all simply appear in clothing reading Monsters University. This and the fact that Omega Kappa’s fraternity house is actually in the basement of Squishy’s Mom’s house starts to make one wonder just how official OK starts out.
To virtually no one’s surprise, the revolutionary Paperman short from Walt Disney Animation Studios claimed the industry’s top honor for Short Film (Animated). Director John Kahrs (pictured, left) took to the stage to receive the accolades with a short, yet sincere speech.
Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Kristina Reed (also pictured, left) decided to celebrate the win by tossing kiss-accented paper planes into the audience from her seat in the mezzanine. Although none of the projectiles appeared to approach the stage, Reed was reportedly temporarily ejected from the Dolby Theatre, only to return a few minutes later after a ‘small protest.’
