Walt Disney Studios has just released its first official trailer for Saving Mr. Banks, the account of Walt Disney’s twenty-year pursuit of the film rights to P.L. Travers’ popular novel, Mary Poppins, and the testy partnership the upbeat filmmaker develops with the uptight author during the project’s pre-production in 1961. You can watch it embedded below.
There’s no telling how the two are connected just yet, but for those who just can’t wait any longer, we’d like to introduce you to Wallace, the newest person of intrigue in Disney’s alternate reality game (ARG), ‘The Optimist.’
We’ve already meat Amelia (@storyorbit) who is on a quest via Twitter and her blog at storyorbit.com to learn more about her grandfather Carlos and the stories he would regale her with about his experiences with Walt Disney and the 1964-65 World’s Fair in New York City and his short story, ‘Orbit’s Story’ which was possibly optioned for a film and theme park rights.
In honor of Monsters University hitting the $400M worldwide mark at the box office, Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios have provided us with this amazing video which takes the Archie the scare-pig scene and shows how the CG animation process progresses, from storyboards to layout to crowd simulation to animation to the final lighting.

Ahead of any official announcements, Amazon.com has begun listing the DVD edition of the upcoming Phineas and Ferb/Marvel crossover special, ‘Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel‘ with a release date of October 1, 2013. No additional information has been provided at this time.
In ‘Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel,’ Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk stand powerless after being struck by Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s power-draining ‘inator.’ Once the Marvel Super Villains — Red Skull, Whiplash, Venom and M.O.D.O.K. — find out that Dr. Doofenshmirtz is responsible for robbing the Super Heroes of their powers, they seek him out and together create mayhem in Danville. Meanwhile, Phineas and Ferb do everything they can to restore the Super Heroes’ powers before the evil villains take over the world.
Walt Disney Studios and Marvel Studios have provided us with a newly released still from its upcoming Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013) in high-resolution, which we have added to the beginning of our gallery below. Amazon.com has updated its listing for the original motion picture soundtrack to Disney’s Planes, available to own on August 6, 2013, just ahead of the theatrical release of the film on August 9.
With a whopping 29 tracks, most of the music is the instrumental score as composed by Mark Mancina, but also features some original songs by the likes of Mark Holman, Chris Classic with Alana D, Jon Stevens as well as songs from film co-stars Carlos Alazraqui (El Chupacabra) and Dave Wittenberg.

It’s just about 45 seconds long and most of the footage is just looped, but this video capture from a Japanese television program shares some of the first real footage of Frozen, coming from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The footage reveals some of the obstacles Kristoff and Annna encounter while embarking on their quest, the least of which appears to be the wrath of Anna’s sister, Elsa.
Ahead of any official announcement, Walmart has begun listing the 20th Anniversary edition of Nightmare Before Christmas on 3D and 2D Blu-ray with a release date of September 10, 2013. Previously Amazon.com had listed it briefly with a release date of August 27, but soon switched dates (it’s currently listed as June 21, but unavailable).
Additionally, a hardcover book written and illustrated by Tim Burton is slated for release on August 6, 2013.
Although there have been many rumors circulating around a domestic release date for this summer’s blockbuster, Iron Man 3, starring Robert Downey Jr. as eccentric billionaire Tony Stark, thanks to a DisneyStore.com listing for the 2D edition, we now have an official release date of September 24, 2013. Amazon.com lists the 3D/2D/DVD/Digital Copy Combo Pack available for pre-order.
Oddly enough, there is no mention of bonus features yet, but thanks to a tip from the forums at hidefninja.com, we have a list of potential bonus feature candidates from the Amazon Italy’s listing for the steelbook edition of the film.
