Radio Disney Names N.B.T. Finalists; Showcase This Weekend at Walt Disney World

The popular musical talent competition for young artists, Radio Disney’s “N.B.T.” (Next BIG Thing), hits a higher octave in its fifth season beginning in the fall. This season’s winner will perform on the hit Disney Channel series “Austin & Ally,” have a single released by Disney Music Group and be the opening act for popular Radio Disney recording artists at the “N.B.T.” finale concert this year in Los Angeles. Radio Disney and Disney Channel audiences will determine the winner when they are invited to look, listen and vote for their favorite artist.

‘Disney D23 Presents Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives’ Musical Tour Available July 3

D23's 'A Musical Tour: Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at The Reagan Library'In conjunction with the launch of the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives at the Ronald Reagan Foundation and Library beginning July 6, 2012, Disney D23 will be releasing a ‘musical tour’ which features anthems and instantly recognizable music from nearly 85 years of the company’s history. From ‘Turkey in the Straw’ as used in Steamboat Willie to Walt Disney’s Disneyland dedication speech in 1955 to Captain America: The First Avenger, the musical tour, inspired by the more than 500 items from the Walt Disney Archives on display at the museum is sure to induce fond memories for all generations.

‘Brave’ Soundtrack to be Released on CD in June; Now Available for Pre-Order

'Brave' Teaser Poster from Disney/PixarThe original motion picture soundtrack to Disney/Pixar’s Brave will be released on June 19, 2012, just three days ahead of the film’s release, according to Amazon. While it’s known that Patrick Doyle has assumed the position of composer for the film’s soundtrack, little else is known regarding what else may be featured on the soundtrack in the way of additional music. According to the film’s article on Wikipedia, the soundtrack will feature a song performed by Julie Fowlis, but the quoted source only mentions that one of her songs was used in the television ad for the film, not that it would necessarily be included on the soundtrack itself (the song used has already been released).

‘Avengers Assemble’ Soundtrack Track List Released

'Avengers Assemble'Set to be released on May 1, 2012, ‘Avengers Assemble’ will serve as a compilation of music from and inspired by Marvel’s The Avengers which follows in theaters on May 4.

Highlighting the contributions to the soundtrack is the first Soundgarden song in the first 15 years, titled ‘Live to Rise,’ which will also serve as the end title song as well as the only original song to appear in the film. A brief sample of the track has been posted online:

Platypus Day 2012 is March 3; New Song Premieres Today on Radio Disney

Disney’s hugely popular duck-billed, beaver-tailed, teal-colored character Perry the Platypus, as seen on “Phineas and Ferb,” the #1 animated series for kids and tweens, will be the main attraction on Platypus Day, Saturday, March 3. The celebration includes the introduction of “The Platypus Walk,” a catchy spy-surf-rock song and dance designed to encourage fun physical activity as part of Disney’s commitment to inspire kids and families to lead active lifestyles. The day also includes 11 hours of “Phineas and Ferb” programming including two new Perry-focused episodes on Disney Channel and Disney XD, an interactive website dedicated to Perry the Platypus, a fun giveaway and special Platypus Takeover at all Disney Stores in the U.S. & Canada and events via local Radio Disney stations across the nation.

Gloriana ‘(Kissed You) Goodnight’ Music Video to Premiere on ABC Family, January 13

ABC Family will present the world premiere exclusive of Gloriana’s newest video, ‘(Kissed You) Goodnight,’ on January 13th, 2012 during the airing of A Walk to Remember, beginning at 8:30 pm ET/PT. ‘(Kissed You) Goodnight’ is the first single from the band’s forthcoming second studio album on Emblem Music Group/Warner Bros. Records. The new video stars Megan Park (‘The Secret Life of An American Teenager’ and A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song, which premieres on ABC Family January 22nd at 8pm ET/PT). Immediately after the airing, the full length video will be available on abcfamily.com.

Shealeigh Named Winner of Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ Season Four

NBT Winner ShealeighShealeigh Voitl of Chicago, IL has taken the title of Radio Disney’s ‘Next Big Thing’ (NBT) Season Four contest. Voted by listeners of the Radio Disney network, Shealeigh was one of five finalists and survived each week as the performer with the least number of votes was eliminated from the competition.

Shealeigh’s first single, released through the competition, is ‘What Can I Say?,’ which she can be seen performing in the following video we took as the NBT tour visited the streets of New York City earlier this year:

As winner of the competition, Shealeigh will have her single released through Walt Disney Music.

ABC Music Lounge Free Music Downloads from ‘Revenge’ (11/23), ‘Once Upon a Time’ (11/27)

ABC.com will be offering two free downloads, exclusively, from their Music Lounge website this week. The single “Hold On” by Alabama Shakes will be featured on “Revenge” tonight, Wednesday, November 23 at 10:00 pm ET/PT. “Hold On” will be available to download online for free beginning tonight at 10:00 pm ET through tomorrow, November 24 at 10:00 pm ET.

“Once Upon a Time” composer Mark Isham’s episodic score will be featured on “Once Upon a Time” on Sunday, November 27 at 8:00 pm ET/PT. A free download of the score will be available beginning tonight, November 23 at 10:00 pm ET through November 28 at 10:00 pm ET.
