Earlier today Hachette Book Group announced via press release that effective September 1, 2010, it will be handling distribution of Marvel graphic novels which is currently handled through Diamond Book Distributors. Although Marvel has since announced that it intends to extend the current agreement with sister company Diamond Comics Distributor to continue handling the distribution of Marvel’s more traditional comics form, it does tend to strike a familiar chord such as when parent company Disney handed off its license for comics starring traditional Disney characters in the United States to BOOM! Studios, formerly handled by Diamond sibling Gemstone Publishing.

Disney Educational and Artist Neal Adams Announce Motion Comics Series on Holocaust

Disney Educational Productions has enlisted comic book artist and activist Neal Adams to illustrate and narrate a new ten-part series of motion comics titled They Spoke Out: American Voices Against the Holocaust.

Ironically enough, Adams has actively fought against the work-made-for-hire provision of the copyright laws in the past, fighting on behalf of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster to have original art returned to them. Adams also took on an active role when he learned of Dina Babbitt who agreed to paint prisoners for Josef Mengele so that she and her mother could prolong being put to death. The art eventually landed up in the hands of the Auschwitz State Museum who later refused to return the artwork to Babbitt upon her request.

First Pages of ‘Kingdom Keepers 3′ by Ridley Pearson Available Online

On his official blog, Ridley Pearson, popular author of young adult novels, has made the first several pages of his upcoming title Kingdom Keepers 3: Disney in Shadow (April 6, 2010; Disney Hyperion) available for download (Adobe Acrobat Reader required). The newest book in the series has our heroes back in the theme parks of Walt Disney World with a new challenge, obstacles and enemies to overcome.

As Ridley has promised us, Stitch has a prominent role in the book, appearing first on page one, but his badness level appears to be questionable at best. Only time (and the rest of the book) will tell if Stitch counts Maleficent and the Overtakes or Finn and the rest of the DHIs amongst his ‘ohana.
