‘Kingdom Keepers V’ Pre-Release Signing at Walt Disney World

'Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game' by Ridley PearsonOn Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30, guests at the Walt Disney World Resort will have the opportunity to meet author Ridley Pearson and purchase a signed copy of his latest book, Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game’ days before its official release in stores on April 3, 2012.

Pearson will be at Once Upon a Toy in the Downtown Disney District Marketplace on March 29, 2012 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm and at the Writer’s Stop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 30 from 9:30 am – 11:30 am. Note that park admission will be required for the Disney’s Hollywood Studios event, but not for Once Upon a Toy.

As the five Kingdom Keepers enter high school, everything is about to change. The Maintenance Base that controls all four parks in Disney World is under attack by the a group determined to change Disney forever. Relationships between the Keepers are no longer as simple as they once were. In fact, nothing is as simple as it once was. An after-hours visit to Typhoon Lagoon is a game changer. The Keepers lose one of their most valuable supporters. But there’s work to do?

The Disney Dream leaves Port Canaveral on an historic cruise to Los Angeles with a special treat in store for guests: the Disney Host Interactive teenage guides are on board. Finn, Maybeck, Charlene, Willa, and Philby join celebrity guests as the DHI experience moves to one of the most advanced cruise ships in the world.

But all is not right below decks. Strange things are happening. Unexplained phenomena. Only the Kingdom Keepers know the truth behind their invitation to be in attendance: nearly every Disney villain is aboard the ship, including Maleficent.

The Overtakers have infiltrated the cast and crew. And no one knows what they have planned.

The Dream sets sail filled with enthusiastic guests and crew. But not for long. Maleficent takes over a video screen and warns the guests of trouble to come. With the ship arriving to the beaches of Castaway Cay–its first of many exotic ports of call–the Kingdom Keepers are under attack; back home the Base is threatened and about to fall. The Overtakers have expanded in ways never foreseen, and it’s clear they intend to use this element of surprise to accomplish what has eluded them so far: victory.

But not if Finn Whitman and friends have anything to say about it.

Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game can be pre-ordered now from Amazon.com

UPDATE #1: 2/24/12 – Wristbands will be required to attend the signing with Ridley Pearson. Wristbands will be distributed while supplies last with purchase of Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game. Guests will be able to purchase the book at Once Upon a Toy on March 29 beginning at 3 pm and at park opening at the Writer’s Stop at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 30.

‘Kingdom Keepers 5: Shell Game’ Cover Preveal, Chapter One Preview Available Friday

'Kingdom Keepers V: Shell Game' by Ridley PearsonVia his Twitter account, ‘Kingdom Keepers’ series author Ridley Pearson announced that the cover for his anticipated fifth entry in the series, Shell Game, along with chapter one will be officially released tomorrow on the official Facebook page. The cover will debut at 10 am ET while the first chapter will be released at 5 pm ET. The book, currently available for pre-order, will be released on April 3. The cover, presumably seen here, was actually posted on Ridley Pearson’s website for a few weeks prior being pulled in favor of a big reveal (special thanks to @urakan for providing the image).

Just in from Dis Books: (Friday, 1/13) at 10am EST we’ll release the KK5 cover image on:http://t.co/K3wu4NbSThen, 1st Chapter at 5PM

The book (#5 of 7) is the first to leave the Walt Disney World Resort and heads to sea aboard Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, the Disney Fantasy (which sees its inaugural voyage just a few days before the book’s release, on March 31). Ursula, the sea witch from The Little Mermaid is prominently featured on the book’s cover, ‘hinting’ that she has joined forces with Maleficent and the rest of The Overtakers. The official description is as follows:

As the Disney Fantasy joins the cruise fleet, a special treat is in store for guests aboard its inaugural sail from Cape Canaveral to Los Angeles: the Disney Host Interactive teenage guides will be part of the Fantasy crew.

Finn, Maybeck, Charlene, Willa, and Philby are to attend the cruise as celebrity guests, and to perform a ribbon cutting for the DHI server to go live. The Fantasy is now the most advanced cruise ship in the world.

But all is not right belowdecks. Strange things are happening. Unexplained phenomena. Only the Kingdom Keepers know the truth behind their invitation: nearly every Disney villain is represented onboard the new ship: whether on its decks or in its theaters.  It’s believed the Overtakers have infiltrated the cast and are “stowaways.”  Worse: it is believed they have stolen an important journal that once belonged to Walt Disney himself–Finn has been having dreams about this–and that some kind of mission is planned.

The ship sets sail filled with enthusiastic guests and crew, and the battle is on in new and exotic arenas: the beaches of Castaway Cay, the caves of Aruba, the locks of the Panama Canal, Costa Rica’s rain forest zip line . . . But the end game is far more complicated and intense than anything the Kingdom Keepers had planned on. If the Overtakers get their way, a power will be unleashed that no one will have the ability to vanquish: Chernabog, dormant for years, is about to have his full powers restored. . . .

‘FamilyFun Kids’ Magazine Launched by Disney Publishing Worldwide

'FamilyFun Kids' from Disney Publishing WorldwideDisney Publishing Worldwide, the world’s largest publisher of children’s books and magazines, today announces the launch of FamilyFun Kids, a new, bi-monthly magazine that encourages kids’ creativity with hands-on crafts, skill-building recipes, imaginative games, brainteasers, and puzzles. The magazine, geared to 6- to 12-year-olds, is created by the staff of Disney FamilyFun magazine, which millions of moms turn to each month for creative family ideas. Like its parent magazine, FamilyFun Kids is packed with fun things to read, but is also specifically designed to be a tactile, interactive experience for children with pages they can cut, fold, tear out, and decorate.

“Many studies show that creative thinking is critical for kids to develop as students and thinkers, yet unfortunately, U.S. creativity scores are declining, and arts programs are being cut,” says Editorial Director, Ann Hallock. “FamilyFun Kids is designed to spark creative thinking in children by giving them ideas and inspiration to make and do things on their own. There is no magazine out there doing this – and we know parents really crave this kind of creative support for their kids.”

The first issue of this hands-on magazine features a playful voice, step-by-step photos and diagrams, ideas from real kids, sneak peeks of great new books, special “art break” pages, where readers can use their imaginations, and even a fold-out-and-use fortune teller. Content will include brand-new activities in addition to favorite ideas from FamilyFun‘s 20 years of archives, re-worked so kids can do them on their own. FamilyFun Kids magazine is the latest addition to a successful cluster of five premium children’s subscription magazines launched in the U.S. by Disney Publishing Worldwide. ‘FamilyFun Kids’ is available for $23.94 for a year subscription (6 issues), and on newsstands for $4.99 per issue. To learn more about FamilyFun Kids, visit FamilyFun.com/kids.

Marvel Sends ‘Prep & Landing’ Crew to Avengers Mansion in Comics Crossover

'Prep & Landing: Mission: Impossible' from Marvel ComicsThere’s very little doubt that Tony Stark and the rest of The Avengers are on the nice list this year, so it makes perfect sense that the popular duo of Wayne and Lanny from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ ‘Prep & Landing’ animated special perform their most daunting task to date: Avengers Mansion.

Marvel will be publishing the first issue of the new crossover series on November 16, according to the official Facebook page of Walt Disney Animation Studios, who also provided a sneak peek.

'Prep & Landing: Mission: Impossible' from Marvel ComicsThe issue is subtitled ‘Mansion: Impossible,’ although we’ll probably be calling it ‘Mission: Impossibelf’ just because.

Walt Disney Studios is also gifting us with ‘Prep & Landing: Naughty vs Nice,’ an all new animated special, in December on the ABC television network as well as a DVD of the original special and related shorts, available to own on November 22, 2011 (now available for pre-order).

UPDATE #1: 10/20/11 – The ‘Prep & Landing’ crossover storyline will actually appear in issues of Marvel’s Avengers #19, Super-Heroes #20 and Spider-Man #20.
