CONFIRMED: ‘Penn Zero: Part Time Hero’ Animated Series Coming to Disney XD

Confirming an earlier report made by Stitch Kingdom this past summer, Disney XD today confirmed it has ordered ‘Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero,’ an animated comedy adventure series that follows Penn Zero, a boy from the suburbs who inherits the coolest job ever — part-time hero and leader of a team of good guys who zap to other worlds to save the day. Production is underway for a scheduled fall 2014 premiere. The announcement was made today by Eric Coleman, Senior Vice President, Original Series, Disney Television Animation.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ Viral Site Quietly Launched

Sienar Fleet SystemsA website designed to promote the upcoming Disney XD Star Wars series, ‘Star Wars Rebe;s,’ has recently popped up at sienarfleetsystems.com.

Currently consisting only of a single propaganda image, the site seeks to appeal to citizens of the economically troubled planet Lothal to join defense contractor Sienar Fleet Systems. Promoting its primary product, the TIE Fighter, the poster promises that SFS’s objective is to produce ‘the latest in defense against threats to peace’ and to ‘bringing jobs and prosperity to Lothal.’

‘Sofia the First: The Floating Palace’ Featuring Ariel Premieres November 24

Sofia and her family take to the high seas for a royal vacation in the first-ever ‘Sofia the First’ primetime special, ‘Sofia the First: The Floating Palace,’ premiering Sunday, November 24 at 7:00 pm ET/PT on Disney Channel and Thursday, November 28 at 7:00 pm ET/PT on the Disney Junior channel. The undersea adventure, in which Sofia is magically transformed into a mermaid, features a special appearance by Princess Ariel from The Little Mermaid, voiced by Disney Legend Jodi Benson who reprises her iconic role from the animated film. The special also introduces a new character named Oona, a young mermaid voiced by Kiernan Shipka.

‘Lucky Duck’ to be Disney Junior’s First Original Film; Debuts Summer 2014

Production has begun on the first Disney Junior Original Movie, Lucky Duck, a music-filled, animated adventure at sea starring the voices of Christian Borle, Megan Hilty and Tom Cavanaugh. The movie follows a plucky rubber ducky named Lucky (Borle) who, after accidentally being tossed off a cargo ship, sets off in search of the perfect home. Along the way, he teams with a group of misfit tub toys including a sassy hippo, Flo (Hilty) and an apprehensive turtle named Snap (Cavanaugh). The movie is slated to premiere in summer 2014 on Disney Junior in the U.S. and thereafter on Disney Junior channels around the world. The announcement was made today by Joe D’Ambrosia, Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Junior.

‘Lights, Camera, Christmas!’ Reality Competition to Air on ABC in December

‘Lights, Camera, Christmas!’ is a new competition series in which 16 families from across America will decorate their homes to the extreme for Christmas —  in ways that would certainly make even Clark Griswold envious — for a $50,000 Grand Prize. The series will air this December on ABC.

In the first nationwide Christmas lights competition of its kind for television, four families will compete each week to transform their homes for the holidays in just 21 days. These 16 families were chosen through an extensive nationwide search, based on their previous elaborate Christmas light displays, incredible choreography and over-the-top designs. The four finalists will be flown to a surprise finale city to compete for the $50,000 Grand Prize.
