ABC Family began production today on the drama series pilot “Socio,” starring Avan Jogia (“Victorious), Maddie Hasson (“The Finder”), Kylie Bunbury (“Prom”), Kimberly Quinn (“Terriers”) and Denise Richards (“Two and a Half Men”). Also recently cast in the project is Sam Robards (“Treme,” “Gossip Girl”). Kathy Najimy (“Make it or Break It”) and Grey Damon (“The Nine Lives of Chloe King”) have also been cast as guest stars.

ABC Family Announces Season Premiere Dates for Returning Favorites

ABC Family will kick off the New Year with all new episodes of returning original hit series and fan favorites “Switched at Birth,” “Bunheads,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “The Lying Game,” all set to premiere the second week of January 2013, with two nights of original programming. ‘The Taste’ Adds Ludo Lefebvre and Brian Malarkey

Famed culinary experts Ludo Lefebvre and Brian Malarkey are confirmed to join no-holds-barred chef Anthony Bourdain and British food star Nigella Lawson as Mentors on eight episodes of ABC’s innovative new cooking competition show, “The Taste.” Bourdain and Lawson are also executive producers. The new one-hour alternative series from Kinetic Content will premiere in 2013 on the ABC Television Network.

Target and Neiman Marcus have partnered with ABC for a ground-breaking integration in conjunction with the critically acclaimed series “Revenge.” As part of the highly anticipated reveal of the retailers’ holiday collection, Target and Neiman Marcus will be the exclusive show sponsor in the episode airing Sunday, November 11 at 9:00 pm ET on the ABC Television Network. ‘Phys Ed’ on ABC Family to Star Ryan Sypek, Kate Lang Johnson

Ryan Sypek (“Wildfire”) and Kate Lang Johnson (“Persons Unknown”) have been cast in the lead roles of the ABC Family comedy pilot “Phys Ed.”

“Phys Ed” is a half-hour multi-camera comedy about a high school’s star jock, Ed (Sypek), who returns to teach at his former alma mater only to find that, even though he’s changed, nothing else really has. Johnson will play Janie, a teacher at the school who was ignored by Ed in high school and is now the object of his affections.

Denise Richards to Star in ‘Socio’ on ABC Family

ABC Family has cast Denise Richards (“Madea’s Witness Protection,” “Two and a Half Men”) to star in drama series pilot “Socio,” as Karen Ryder. Also cast is Kimberly Quinn (“Terriers,” “House”) as Tess. They join the previously announced Avan Jogia as Danny, Maddie Hasson as Jo and Kylie Bunbury as Lacey in the project. The pilot is currently in preproduction.
