ABC Family has greenlit two new comedy pilots, ‘Kevin From Work’ and ‘Tough Cookie,’ it was announced today by Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development. Both pilots are single-camera and will go into production later this month. These orders join the second-season pick up of comedy series ‘Young & Hungry,’ announced in September. Comedy favorites ‘Melissa and Joey’ and ‘Baby Daddy’ will premiere their fourth seasons on January 14 at 8:00pm ET/PT and 8:30pm ET/PT, respectively.
Although ABC’s ‘Once Upon A Time,’ has already enjoyed a previous book release, Reawakened, which is essentially a retelling of the popular fairy tale series’ first season, it’s Ruby/Red who will receive the spotlight for the new original novel inspired by the series. Once Upon A Time: Red’s Untold Tale will provide some backstory to the character based on the traditional Little Red Riding Hood. The official publisher’s description is as follows:
Disney Junior’s ‘Miles from Tomorrowland,’ an intergalactic adventure series, blasts off Friday, February 6 on Disney Channel at 9:00 am ET/PT. Launching with four back-to-back episodes, it incorporates unique space and science facts into the storylines that chart the outer space missions of young adventurer Miles Callisto and his family as they help connect the galaxy on behalf of the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.
Lucasfilm has released a couple of clips from its upcoming episode of ‘Star Wars Rebels,’ titled ‘Path of the Jedi.’ The first clip is titled ‘Yoda’s Guidance’ and features Kanan telepathically (?) receiving a message from Master Yoda — whom Kanan believed to have been long deceased — voiced in the January 5 episode by the legendary Frank Oz, who, of course, originated the role of Yoda.
The second clip, titled ‘Nothing and Everything’ has Kanan setting Ezra on a quest, which is probably what is hinted at by the episode’s official synopsis: ‘Ezra must face a great challenge as part of his growth as a member of the team.’
Once upon a time, the dashing hero, Galavant (Joshua Sasse), lost the love of his life, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), to the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). Now, our fallen hero is ready to take revenge and restore his ‘happily ever after.’ But it won’t be without a few twists and turns along the way. ‘Galavant’ will premiere on Sunday, January 4 at 8:00 pm ET/PT with two 30 minute episodes, back-to-back on the ABC Television Network. The eight episode series will run through Sunday nights in January.
ABC Family has picked up a new scripted drama to series ‘Recovery Road,’ announced today by Karey Burke, Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, ABC Family.
Based on the popular young adult novel by Blake Nelson, ‘Recovery Road’ focuses on a teenage girl dealing with addiction. Maddie has a reputation as a party girl who doesn’t think she has a problem, until she’s confronted one day by her school guidance counselor and is forced to choose between expulsion and rehab. Maddie makes the difficult decision to live with other recovering addicts at a rehab facility while facing the daily pressures of her teenage life.
A new publisher’s description for Isle of the Lost, the prequel novel for the Disney Channel Original Movie ‘The Descendants,’ penned by Melissa de la Cruz, has been released. In addition, Amazon has provided what appears to be official character descriptions for the offspring of the famous Disney villains. The book’s description is as follows:

Based on their own daughter, ‘Kate & Mim-Mim’ tells the story of a feisty five-year-old who together with her toy rabbit Mim-Mim travels to the fantasy world of Mimiloo, where Mim-Mim comes alive as a larger-than-life playmate.
Along with recent casting news that Olivia Munn will be assuming the role of Mom /aka/ Captain Phoebe Callisto, Disney Junior has released a full trailer for ‘Miles from Tomorrowland,’ premiering in February 2015. You can find the new trailer embedded below.
Set in outer space, the series charts the missions of the Callisto family – 7-year-old Miles, big sister Loretta and their scientist parents Phoebe and Leo, who work for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority. Each episode features two 11-minute adventure-filled stories as Miles and his family explore strange new worlds, taking young viewers and their families on a journey that fuels kids’ natural interest in the universe, and at the same time reminding them that what matters most is what lies closer to home – the family bond.
This holiday season, Disney will put a Frozen twist on its 31st annual Christmas Day telecast, appropriately renamed the “Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration” airing Dec. 25, 2014 on ABC-TV.
Robin Roberts of ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ will host the re-imagined television special inspired by the blockbuster hit’s message of uniting family and loved ones. Roberts will lead the telecast from Walt Disney World Resort in Florida with support from GMA Contributor and ESPN and SEC Network analyst Tim Tebow.
