ABC announced today a brand new music competition series, “Duets,” starring four of the music industry’s biggest Superstars, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Nettles, Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke. The new series will debut this summer on the ABC television network.
As part of a new Marvel-themed programming block debuting on April 1, Disney XD will be premiering a new series titled ‘Ultimate Spider-Man.’ In the storyline, a teenage Peter Parker (voiced by actor Drake Bell) juggles the relatable challenges of high school with the extraordinary challenges of being a Super Hero. Nick Fury (voiced by actor Chi McBride) invites Parker to train with his S.H.I.E.L.D. organization, where Peter’s alter-ego, Spider-Man, will join forces with four other teenage Super Heroes – Nova, White Tiger, Power Man and Iron Fist, on the greatest action and adventure ever as they work to become Ultimate Super Heroes.
For the first time ever, one of the final two women who are vying for the Bachelor’s heart will make an appearance at “The Women Tell All.” Courtney, who has been the woman viewers and the other bachelorettes have loved to hate all season, will return to have her chance to defend herself. Will she apologize for her behavior? Will she fight back and be her fiery self, or will viewers see another, softer side of her? From the creative minds of Julian Fellowes, Academy Award (Gosford Park), Emmy and Golden Globe winner (“Downton Abbey”), and BAFTA-winning producer Nigel Stafford Clark (“Bleak House”) comes the highly anticipated ABC Premiere Event, “Titanic,” a four-part miniseries that will premiere Saturday, April 14 at 8:00 pm – 11 pm ET on the ABC Television Network. Parts One-Three will air on April 14, and the miniseries will conclude with Part Four on Sunday, April 15 at 9:00 pm ET to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912.
Beginning February 27 and through March 30, residents of the United States and Canada (minus Quebec) will be able to enter to win a National Parks vacation for six provided by the nationally-syndicated ‘LIVE! with Kelly’ hosted by Kelly Ripa and Air Wick. On March 23, 2012, the Doc is in! That’s the date that Disney Junior’s 24 hour network launches nationwide, bringing along with it returning favorites and all new series. One of the new series, which will air back-to-back from 10 am – 11 am ET/PT is ‘Doc McStuffins,’ an enchanting series that chronicles the practice of a six year old who can communicate with and heal toys while promoting a healthy lifestyle for its viewers.
Hyperion recently announced plans to publish three original eBook novellas by renown mystery writer Richard Castle, marking a return to his internationally bestselling and award-winning Derrick Storm series. The first eBook, titled A Brewing Storm, will be published in May 2012 and will bring the former CIA operative out of retirement. The as-yet-untitled second and third Derrick Storm eBooks are scheduled for release in July and August respectively.
On March 23, 2012, Disney Channel will launch Disney Junior, a 24 hour network dedicated to programming aimed at the pre-school market. The network will feature current favorites as well as classics from when the Disney Junior programming block was known as Playhouse Disney and even all new series. To celebrate the new channel, Disney Consumer Products and Disney Channel teamed up earlier this week to present ‘Disney Junior’s Got Super Stars’ at the 109th Annual International Toy Fair in New York City. The event, which previewed the new season of shows along with upcoming toys based on the franchises, welcomed ‘Jake and the Never Land Pirates’ stars David Arquette (voice of Skully) and Sharon Osbourne (voice of upcoming character Mama Hook) to the stage along with other surprise guests.
ABC Family, the Millennial-skewing network, continues to expand its original programming slate, giving the greenlight to the new drama series “Bunheads” (working title), it was announced today by Michael Riley, president, ABC Family.
Executive-produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino (“Gilmore Girls”) and headlined by Tony Award®-winning actor Sutton Foster, “Bunheads” is the tale of a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law’s dance school. “Bunheads” joins ABC Family’s recently announced new original series, “Baby Daddy” and “Beverly Hills Nannies.” All three series will begin production in Spring 2012.
