GSN (Game Show Network) announced today that it has acquired the exclusive off-network rights to ABC’s ‘Dancing with the Stars’ from Disney-ABC Domestic Television, which will make GSN the only network on which previous seasons of the mega-hit dance competition can be seen. GSN has acquired seasons 4 through 13 (season 13 will air its final episode tonight on ABC), and will begin airing them in January 2012. The agreement also includes the upcoming 14th season.
ABC Family has begun production on their new pilot, ‘Intercept,’ filming in Los Angeles. ‘Intercept’ stars Danielle Panabaker (‘Shark’), Austin Butler (‘Switched At Birth’), Chloe Wang (‘The Nightlife’) and Nolan Gerard Funk (‘Aliens in America’).
‘Intercept’ is a one-hour technology and action driven drama about a group of college students who get roped into solving crimes when one of them creates a high-tech communication device that intercepts conversations throughout the West Coast. ‘Intercept’ will be executive-produced and written by Ray Wright (The Crazies, Case 39, Pulse), as well executive produced and directed by Kevin Hooks (‘Prison Break,’ ‘Detroit 187,’ ‘Bones’).
The Russo siblings — Justin, Alex and Max — face a sudden and ultimate test to determine which one of them will be entitled to keep their wizardly powers. After 106 episodes of the Emmy Award-winning hit comedy, the answer will finally be revealed on a special one hour episode premiering FRIDAY, JANUARY 6 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.

The one-hour original drama stars newcomer Erica Dasher, David Clayton Rogers (“Cougar Town”), Nicholas Roux (“Lemonade Mouth”), Rowly Dennis (“Desperate Housewives”), India De Beaufort (“One Tree Hill”), Meagan Tandy (“10 Things I Hate About You”), Matthew Atkinson (“CSI”) and featuring Andie MacDowell (“Footloose,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral”).
The morning of November 17, 2011 brought lots of mayhem to Times Square as well as the ‘Good Morning America’ Studio as ABC’s popular national morning program was taken over by its distant cousins, the Muppets for the duration of the show.
We were on hand to capture some of the mayhem (and magic) as Muppeteers such as Steve Whitmire, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson and Bill Barretta brought many of the classic characters to life in the heart of Times Square. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Swedish Chef, Pepe, Fozzie Bear and many more were on hand for the event which included a live performance of ‘Mahna Mahna’ and Swedish Chef joining celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse for the ‘America’s Pie of Emeril’s Eye’ segment.
Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior unwrap a joyful slate of new holiday specials for kids and families beginning Friday, December 2. The festive fare includes the premiere of Disney Channel Original Movie “Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas!,” worldwide music sensation Justin Bieber performing his new holiday hit “Mistletoe” on “So Random!,” Grammy-Award winner Kelly Clarkson guest starring in a seasonal special of “Phineas and Ferb” and more.
The semi-finals have arrived and the competition is nothing short of intense as the four remaining couples charm audiences with three routines. Their first performance is an Argentine Tango, their second dance is either a Paso Doble or Samba — one of which is a style dance they have not yet performed — and their third dance will be the Cha Cha relay, in which all couples will dance to the same song. Their Cha Cha will not be scored, but it will be ranked by the judges: The couple who takes first place in the ranking will receive 10 points, the second-place couple will get 8 points, the third-place couple will get 6 points and the fourth-place couple will take 4 points. Monday night’s show also includes a fierce Pro Argentine Tango performance choreographed by world renowned Argentine Tango master dancers and choreographers Sandor and Parissa. Pro dancers Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson, Kiki Nyemcheck, Sasha Faber and Oksana Dmytrenko will accompany Sandor and Parissa in this piece, live on “Dancing with the Stars,” on Monday, November 14 at 8:00 pm ET on the ABC Television Network.
Disney Channel will debut a series of interstitial messages featuring First Lady Michelle Obama and popular young Disney stars China Anne McClain (“A.N.T. Farm”), Adam Irigoyen (“Shake It Up”), Doug Brochu (“So Random!”) and Chris Brochu (“Lemonade Mouth”) talking about their personal experiences with family members serving in the Armed Forces. The messages, debuting on Veteran’s Day, Friday, November 11, are designed to recognize America’s military kids and are part of Disney’s ongoing support of the White House’s Joining Forces national initiative.
With only five remaining couples, the competition heats up as each couple performs two individual dances. They will first hit the dance floor performing a ballroom style dance that they have not yet performed, then will face their biggest challenge yet with the “Instant Dance” – in which they will have to master a jive to music they’ve been given during the live show — Monday, November 7 at 8:00 pm ET on the ABC Television Network.
