Guided by extensive research into what today’s daytime viewers want and the changing viewing patterns of the audience, ABC is evolving the face of daytime television with the launch of two new shows, “The Chew,” which will premiere in September 2011, and “The Revolution” (working title), which will premiere in January 2012. These new shows expand ABC Daytime’s focus to include more programming that is informative and authentic and centers on transformation, food and lifestyle — cornerstones of programming that resonates with daytime viewers as evidenced by the success of “The View.”
At long last, for “Cougar Town” devotees in need of their weekly fix of the cul-de-sac crew, the wait is almost over as ABC’s “Cougar Town” returns with a special episode on Monday, April 18 at 9:30 pt ET/PT following “Dancing with the Stars,” before settling into its regular timeslot on Wednesday, April 20.
Building on its most expansive programming slate ever, ABC Family has picked up an additional one-hour scripted drama, “Jane By Design.” The drama is in addition to the network’s four previously announced series pick-ups set to launch this summer, the one-hour dramas “The Nine Lives of Chloe King,” “Switched at Birth” and “The Lying Game,” and the half-hour multi-cam comedy series, “State of Georgia” (formerly “The Great State of Georgia”). “Jane By Design” is set to premiere in early 2012.
Late last year, we told you about new television program in development for HGTV in which Disney Imagineers from Walt Disney World would bring a little pixie dust to the backyards of Orlando area homes. The show, then tentatively titled ‘Magical Backyard’ is now known to be titled ‘My Yard Goes Disney’ and will begin airing on HGTV on June 6 at 8 pm ET/PT.
According to a newly released schedule from HGTV, the show has HGTV and Disney Parks joining forces to surprise lucky homeowners with a backyard makeover they never thought possible. Whether it’s a magical Mickey Pool, a topiary shaped like the family dog or a tree house inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean, this half-hour series brings the fun and spirit of Disney Parks home.

Throughout its coverage the News division will work closely with its longstanding international partner, the BBC, the principal public service broadcaster in the United Kingdom. “Dancing with the Stars” has its first-ever classical themed week, as the show’s nine couples try to outshine one another on the dance floor performing to traditional and modern classical music from world renowned musicians. Conducted by “Dancing with the Stars” band leader Harold Wheeler, a full 46-piece orchestra will be joined by multi-platinum mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins and international violin virtuoso David Garrett, Monday, April 11 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on the ABC Television Network.
ESPN announced today its flagship network ESPN as well as ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.com are now available to Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS TV subscribers via the new ‘WatchESPN’ App for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, now available on the App Store.
In time for the early rounds of the Masters, the NBA Playoffs and the beginning of the Major League Baseball season, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks and Verizon FiOS TV subscribers who receive the linear networks as part of their video subscription can now watch the channels from the convenience of their iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.
ABC Inner Circle, the online outreach for garnering the opinions of viewers-at-large has recently opened up a new survey to test what folks think about the synopses of some pilots currently being developed for the network.
