Just a few days before its grand opening on June 15, 2012, Cars Land and Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort opened its doors for previews for Annual Passholders, Disney D23 and Club 33 Members. Guests — along with Disney Parks brass such as Robert Iger, Tom Staggs, George Kalogridis and Mary Niven — enjoyed dining, shopping and the attractions in both areas: Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Flying Tires, Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and the Red Car Trolley.
The Disneyland Resort has now launched a service which allows Guests with web-enabled devices to purchase and receive tickets through them. At this time, however, the resort is allowing only 1 day tickets to be purchased this way (both single and park hopper options available).
In order to purchase a ticket this way, point your mobile browser to DisneylandMobileTickets.com and fill out the secure order form. Once the order has been processed, you will receive your ticket in the form of a bar code on screen as well as by email. Cast members at the turnstiles will then be able to scan in your ticket bar code and allow admission.
Disneyland Resort today welcomed a new Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop to Disney California Adventure Park. The new location – the first to open inside a theme park – features Ghirardelli’s world-famous hot fudge sundaes and decadent chocolate products, and represents another milestone in the expansion of Disney California Adventure.
“As we celebrate the culmination of our Resort expansion, we are thrilled to welcome Ghirardelli, and to make this unique chocolate experience available to our park guests,” said George A. Kalogridis, president of Disneyland Resort. “Ghirardelli is a perfect fit for our newly reimagined Disney California Adventure, as we both share a rich California heritage.”
From now through June 21 (or until event reaches capacity), Disneyland Annual Passholders will have the opportunity to register to attend a special preview World of Color ‘Glow With the Show’ event to be held at Disney California Adventure on the nights of June 28, 29 and 30 after park closing.
Each of the annual passholders attending the event will also receive a complimentary pair of ‘Glow with the Show’ ears seen here.
A developer named Starwave (added: Starwave Mobile is a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company) released a free brand new app for the Apple iPad called ‘Cast Member Publications‘ earlier today, which is simply described as ‘Digital editions of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts newsletters and publications – by Cast Members for Cast Members.’
Sure enough, download the free app and you are good to go. Although the sample screenshots on the App Store show an older edition of the Disneyland Line, the only publication available for download currently is the June 7 edition, which is — very unsurprisingly — all about the Disney California Adventure expansion, focusing on Cars Land, Buena Vista Street, Cars Land and Cars Land.
While many of the items below are fairly well known already, there are likely to be a few new details sprinkled in here and there regarding the new attractions, eateries and shops that will compose the new Buena Vista Street and Cars Land areas of Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort. In addition to the details, Disneyland has also released a ‘by the numbers’ fact sheet demonstrating what went in to the expansion as well as the new nighttime entertainment event, the Mad T Party.
Larry the Cable Guy (actor Dan Whitney) meets his alter-ego, Mater, in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure park in Anaheim, Calif. Cars Land immerses guests in the thrilling world of the Disney/Pixar blockbuster Cars film franchise as they step into the town of Radiator Springs.

The Disneyland Resort donated the iconic “CALIFORNIA” letters previously located in the esplanade at the Disney California Adventure park entrance to the Friends of the California State Fair, a nonprofit organization that benefits California Exposition & State Fair (Cal Expo) in Sacramento, Calif. Cal Expo is the site of the California State Fair and hundreds of other events annually.
“As we near the completion of the Disney California Adventure expansion, it was important to us to find an appropriate home for the ‘CALIFORNIA’ letters,” said Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis. “The letters were very popular with millions of Guests over the past decade, and Cal Expo is a fitting destination to continue their legacy.”
While it survived a near-hostile takeover from ‘Toy Story,’ Disney Creative Entertainment has now set its sights on the magnificent staged production of ‘Aladdin’ at Disney California Adventure’s Hyperion Theater (albeit more magnificent when the flying carpet scene isn’t deemed a safety hazard). And that, dear readers, brings us to speculate what will follow in Aladdin, Genie and Jasmine’s footsteps.
Although we just shared the news that Disney D23 members will have the opportunity to preview the ‘Cars Land’ and ‘Buena Vista Street’ districts at Disney California Adventure before they open to the public on June 15, we have learned that Disneyland Annual Passholders will also be invited to join in on the fun as part of Disneyland’s ‘The happiest place on Earth just got happier’ campaign.
