Yesterday on Twitter, we brought casting news for the new show based on The Little Mermaid opening in 2015 at Tokyo Disney Resort. Today, the Oriental Land Company formally announced that ‘King Triton’s Concert’ will make its official debut at the Tokyo DisneySea theme park on April 24, 2015.
The official Disney Parks blog today announced that Disney’s Frozen will find a permanent home at the Norway pavilion in Walt Disney World’s Epcot in the future, replacing Maelstrom, which had been in place since the pavilion was first added in 1988. According to the news, the new attraction ‘takes our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film.’ Anna and Elsa, who currently offer a meet and greet at the Magic Kingdom after having started at the Norway pavilion, will resume meet and greets at the new attraction when it is constructed. As of now, there is no announced timeframe for Maelstrom’s closure and replacement.
Earlier this summer, the official Disney Parks blog announced that the former Yankee Trader shop located in Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square would close to become a gift shop specializing in spooktacular odds and ends paying homage to the Haunted Mansion.
Now, thanks to a filing with the Orange County comptroller’s office, it looks like we might have learned the name of the shop too. Filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, the notice of commencement enlists Sign Producers, Inc. to create and install signage for ‘Memento Mori.’
As Walt Disney World’s ‘Frozen Summer Fun LIVE!’ event stars to unwind and Tokyo Disney begins prepping for their own ‘Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy‘ event, it seems the Disneyland Resort might be prepping for an event of their own. While Anna, Elsa and Olaf do appear in Disneyland’s pre-parade, a new listing on the official Disney Auditions website has us pondering…
A casting announcement has gone up seeking comedic actors to fill both a female and a male role for a ‘possible future special event and entertainment offerings,’ with descriptions as follows:
FEMALE: Full of wonder and energy, quirky, listens to her heart.
Confirming an earlier report by Stitch Kingdom, although the game has not yet been officially announced by Disney Parks and Resorts, the iOS version of Disney’s ‘Mayhem at the Mansion’ is now available as a free download from the iTunes App Store.
As we previously pointed out, the idea behind the augmented reality game is to go to certain locations marked on the Magic Kingdom’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party event map, find one of the hitchhiking ghosts who have escaped from the Haunted Mansion and capture them using the ‘spectre collector’ in the app. Interactions can be saved and shared before returning the ghost to his rightful place back at the Haunted Mansion.
Everyone knows drones are where it’s at. Whether you’re looking to deliver packages to customers’ doorsteps, target and destroy someone from thousands of miles away or looking to entertain thousands of guests, you’ll need an army of drones.
Thanks to a series of recently published patent applications, we now have an idea of where Walt Disney Imagineering is headed with future plans for night-time entertainment to take place over lagoons (which are specifically mentioned in the applications), although the technology can be applied virtually anywhere.
The Oriental Land Company, owners and operators of the Tokyo Disney Resort have announced that they will be honoring the success of Disney’s Frozen with a special event, titled ‘Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Fantasy,’ to be held at the Tokyo Disneyland theme park starting January 13, 2015 and ending on March 20, 2015. According to the press release, ‘guests will find opportunities to experience the beautiful world of Frozen, with family and friends.’
Celebrating at the park during the winter season, guests are promised ‘a lovely world of ice and snow created by Elsa’s magical power.’ The park will feature special menus and approximately 25 specially themed merchandise as well as decorative snow and ice crystal, ‘reminiscent of the film’s atmosphere.’

After highly (and not-so-highly) publicized events in which at Walt Disney World’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ both a man and a child suffered finger lacerations/partial loss and even going back to an incident in 2005 where a child lost part of his thumb on Disneyland’s ‘Storybook Land Canal Boats,’ a patent application has been published that hopes to reduce — if not eliminate — such injuries. The unfortunate aspect, however, is that the original filing date for the application, titled ‘Dynamic Roll/Pitch Stabilizer for Use During Loading and Unloading of Small Passenger Boats’ is February 12, 2013 — long before the recent ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ incidents.
Over two years ago, we first talked about a ‘Story Telling’ patent application that would integrate with Disney Parks and Resorts’ MyMagic+ system and today we are getting our first hints of it becoming a reality. The official Disney Parks blog has shared news that Disney Photo Imaging’s PhotoPass system will now allow guests who have purchased the Memory Maker package to automatically receive video of their journey — or drop — on the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort via their linked MagicBand.
