The official Disney Parks blog today announced that commencing today — and barring any technical issues — Mickey Mouse will not only be meeting and greeting with guests at the Magic Kingdom, but conversing them as well, marking a new major milestone in a very lengthy history of attempting to bring characters to life in all new ways ahead of full NextGen technology implementation.
The Oriental Land Company (OLC), owner and operator of the Tokyo Disney Resort, today announced that it will be bringing its night-time entertainment show, ‘Once Upon A Time,’ to the Tokyo Disneyland theme park beginning May 29, 2014.
‘Once Upon A Time’ is a fifteen minute show that uses the same high-resolution projection mapping technique that is currently in use at other Disney theme parks around the world including Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Disneyland and Disneyland Paris. Like its Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Paris counterparts, the show will be projected onto the park’s icon, Cinderella Castle.
Yesterday, Disney Parks revealed its newest campaign, ‘Disney Side,’ confirming a Stitch Kingdom report filed back in July of this year.
Beginning at noon today, Disney Parks will unveil its next ‘Disney Side’ campaign move — a six second ‘Disney Side’ video contest to take place via Vine. A website with more information as well as a forum to answer questions and offer guidance has been set up at WorldOfColorHonorChoir.com.
We are officially filing this in the ‘not in anyone-you-know’s-lifetime’ file, but on the heels of official confirmation that Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33 will be expanding at the Disneyland Resort beginning next year, Disney has preemptively registered domain names CLUB33DISNEYWORLD.COM and CLUB33WALTDISNEYWORLD.COM, suggesting that the expansion may take up just a tad more space than New Orleans Square’s Court des Anges.
More than three years ago, Stitch Kingdom broke the news that Disney was looking into a way to control what it considered a viable threat: abuse of refillable mugs. The news caused an uproar across the internet sparking further debate over a topic that had already been debated immeasurable times before. While some recognized it was a long day coming, many argued that it really wasn’t worth Disney’s time and effort to implement such a system, while others plotted on how to get around it just based on the patent application. Three years later, the Walt Disney World Resort has introduced its ‘Rapid Fill’ program which, in effect, does exactly what the company set out to do.

After introducing several older (and current) theme park-only albums to the digital download sector this year, Walt Disney Music continues the trend with the soundtracks to two of the Disneyland Resort’s traditions — ‘Haunted Mansion Holiday‘ and ‘“it’s a small world” Holiday.’ Both soundtracks will be available beginning September 10, 2013 and are currently listed on Amazon.
Initially released in 2003, ‘Haunted Mansion Holiday‘ features the vocal talents of Corey Burton. Jack Skellington of Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas fame, who temporarily takes up residence in the parks’ classic Haunted Mansion attraction, pays tribute to several classic Christmas carols with a nightmarish twist. The album also features a recorded ride-through of the holiday overlay.
As we previously reported, beginning November 15, 2013, Disney California Adventure will present a new holiday version of its ‘World of Color’ nighttime show, dubbed ‘World of Color — Winter Dreams.’ The show — which will be hosted by Olaf from Disney’s Frozen — will introduce new special effects along to a brand new cut of the show which will feature animation from Frozen as well as winter scenes from beloved Disney animated classics such as Bambi, Fantasia and Toy Story.
