Despite the introduction of the Disney New Generation Festival this year, Euro Disney S.C.A has reported a net loss of approximately $145 million in the first half of the 2010 fiscal year (ending March 31), compared with a net loss of approximately $108 million for the first half of 2009. While individual guest spending did increase, the overall effect was an overall 7% decline in both theme park and hotel revenues with the bulk of that being blamed on a decline of visitors from the United Kingdom.

Photo Gallery: Lotso Meet & Greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

[SinglePic not found]Lotso from Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 began greeting guests at Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park this morning and we were pleased to be amongst the first to welcome him to the World. Although we were warned that he would make his first appearance at 10:30, several guests showed up as close to the park’s 9 am opening as possible to stake their place in line. In fact, it wouldn’t be until around 9:45, when the queue already began wrapping around the corner that it would even see its first guest under the age of 15 (or so).

Patent Reveals Disney Had ‘Talking Mickey’ Technology for Almost 20 Years

Patent drawing for voice transformation used in a theme park characterWhat could be more surprising than walking into a room and having Mickey Mouse talk to you? How about the fact that Disney has been sitting on the technology for well over a decade?

There was little surprise yesterday about how quickly the YouTube video of a Talking Mickey character test at Disneyland garnered attention, turning just a few dozen views from when we first reported it to tens of thousands less than a day later, but realizing that there would have to at least be a patent application somewhere before the technology was debuted, we set out to find the source of the marveling magic.

Mickey Mouse Begins Chatting Up Guests at Disneyland’s Toontown – Literally

UPDATE: We dug up the patent that Disney has held for YEARS that makes this technology possible. Read more!

The day of reckoning has come, dear readers.

A friend sent us a link to these YouTube videos showing Mickey Mouse greeting a couple of fans at Toontown in Disneyland a couple of days ago and it appears that the technology first used in the character heads of the Dream Along with Mickey Castle show at Magic Kingdom may very well have found its way into the meet & greet scenario in a huge way (and with some further enhancements).

Summer Nightastic at Walt Disney World Theme Song Preview

If you can’t wait for the Main Street Electrical Parade and the rest of Summer Nightastic at Walt Disney World this year, or if you can’t go, here’s a little taste to help bring the magic home to you.

The theme is titled I Want to Go and it pretty much explains it all, although I must confess it ends up sounding more like a commercial for Coney Island to me, if not Dave & Buster’s.

And just for kicks, I’ve opted to transcribe the lyrics (as I hear them):
