Star WarsTM creator George Lucas and Disney President and CEO Bob Iger wielded lightsabers amid a legion of stormtroopers Friday to open “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue,” a new 3-D adventure at Walt Disney World Resort.
Admittedly some of these tees have been flaunted by Disney Parks already, but many are being seen here for the first time anywhere (as far as we know). They are the collection identified on their sleeve as the ‘Star Tours Launch Collection 2011′ in honor of the introduction of ‘Star Tours: The Adventures Continue’ coming to Walt Disney World’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios on May 20, 2011 and Disneyland on June 6, 2011.
The tees, which should be available at both resorts, are likely to also be offered online at DisneyStore.com.
In honor of Star Wars Day (May the 4th), our spies with the Rebel Alliance have checked in with us regarding some strange goings-on over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort. Apparently there is some new company calling itself ‘Star Tours’ which promises to take travelers on a trip around the universe. Reports are still preliminary at this stage, but apparently the Empire is pleased with the changes that will soon affect us all, perhaps in some ways we shall never even know about.
The official Disney Parks blog has revealed the full line-up of celebrities attending this year’s Star Wars Weekends event taking place every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from May 20 through June 12, 2011.
Once again, Jedi Mickey and Princess Leia Minnie will be joined by some of the brightest stars from the saga. Celebrity Hosts for the event this year are James Arnold Taylor (voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Ashley (seen in the photo above with R2-MK and Jedi Mickey) will host “Clone Wars: Behind the Force,” a closer look inside the popular animated TV series. James will present another event-first: he will star in a one-man show that showcases some of the many voices he has performed throughout his career, including those from The Clone Wars.
Earlier today, Disney Parks announced just some of the new merchandise coming to the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts this summer in anticipation of the grand opening of ‘Star Tours: The Adventures Continue’ at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (May 20) and Disneyland (June 3). Although some Annual Passholder exclusive merchandise was mentioned and hinted at (and shown in one case), here is additional information on the passholder exclusives:
Limited to an edition size of 2000, this Walt Disney World Annual passholder exclusive Star Tours 2 pin features a hinged door that, when closed, shows the Star Tours logo, and the Starspeeder 1000 when opened. It will retail for 15.95

The power of the Force and the magic of Disney have combined to create “Star Tours – The Adventures Continue,” a new 3-D attraction set to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park on May 20, 2011. The attraction also will open at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, Calif., on June 3, 2011.
Based on the Star Wars films, Star Tours will take Walt Disney World Resort guests to multiple Star Wars destinations where they will interact with characters from throughout the Saga. And it will all be in 3-D.
On Saturday, June 18, join Disney Design Group Artist Costa Alavezos and Disney Ink and Paint Artists: James Bonserio, Erin Magill, Theodora M. DeLaney, David Rippberger, Lynn Rippberger and Sharon K. Vincent as they celebrate the premiere of the Ka-chow! entry into the Ink and Paint Cel series. In the cel, Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater and pals make their on-stage debut in the popular stunt show attraction, ‘Lights, Motors, Action Extreme Stunt Show.’ Ka-chow! is also the first entry in the Ink & Paint Cel Series to feature the characters of Disney/Pixar’s Cars.
Disney/Pixar has already taken a prominent role in the 2011 Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park, but despite the debut of the spectacular Toy Story 3 topiaries, featuring the strawberry-scented Lotso, and the Cars 2 topiaries as well as the Cars 2 ‘Race Around the World Showcase’ activity that leads guests through various checkpoints at countries related to the film for a prize, Walt Disney World is cooking up something extra special for the final weekend of the event, dedicated to Pixar Animation Studios, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and you will not want to miss any of it!
As part of the new Magical Moments Festival at Disneyland Paris, a new segment featuring Mater, Lightning McQueen and a villain vehicle has been added to the Moteurs… Action! car stunt show at Walt Disney Studios Park at the Disneyland Paris Resort. Footage of the new segment has made its way onto YouTube:
In addition, the Cars 2 segment will also be added to the show’s U.S. counterpart, Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort, this June (replacing the Herbie segment).
