Disney Vinylmation Announces Sorcerer Mickey/Park Series 5 Combo Pack

Disney Vinylmation Sorcerer Mickey / Park Series 5 Combo PackOn October 29, Disney Vinylmation will release a followup to the Plane Crazy/Park Series 4 combo pack with a Sorcerer Mickey/Park Series 5 combo pack at D Street in the Downtown Disney Districts of both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts.

The 3″ Sorcerer Mickey figure was designed by Monty Maldovan and will be packaged with a random Park Series 5 Vinylmation in a blind box. As with its predecessor, it’s likely to retail for $24.99. You can read more about it on the official Vinylmation blog which has been previewing Park Series 5 and has today highlighted an upcoming 9″ limited edition (800) Halloween-inspired Holiday #2 figure by artist Lin Shih which will be released on October 22.

D23 Details 2010 ‘Magic & Merriment’ Event at Walt Disney World

D23 members and up to three guests each are invited to attend this year’s Disney D23 Magic & Merriment event at the Walt Disney World Resort from December 10 – 12, 2010.

The festivities will kick off at 9 pm ET on Friday, December 10 as guests congregate at One Man’s Dream at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to enjoy a private screening of Archiving the Archives, a new documentary celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Walt Disney Archives.

Disney Cast Members Show PRIDE in Downtown Orlando

Disney cast members march in PRIDE parade © Disney Disney Cast Members and VoluntEARS recently joined a lively crowd of 55,000 in downtown Orlando to participate in the 2010 Come Out with Pride celebration.

The annual event, organized by the Metropolitan Business Association, which serves as Orlando’s Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, celebrates members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community and its allies.

WDW Character Update: Tangled Meet & Greet Will Begin October 15 at Epcot

We reported earlier that the in-park appearance of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled, initially scheduled to begin on October 15 at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom had been postponed until October 25.

Yesterday, however, Cast Member-run WDW Character Hunt stated that the pair would in fact be making appearances starting on October 15, only at Epcot’s International Gateway instead at non-published, ‘random’ times. The duo will only be making appearances and will not be participating in any of the interactive elements expected to occur when the makeover-in-progress at Magic Kingdom’s Fairytale Garden is complete.

Save The Date: Official ‘TRON Legacy’ Vinylmation by Noah to be Released November 21

On his official blog, Disney Fine Artist Noah, known in part for his extremely popular custom hand-painted Vinylmation collectibles (ranging in size from 9″ to 5′), has announced the official TRON: Legacy Vinylmation by Noah release will take place November 21 at Downtown Disney’s D Street at both the Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts.

WDW Refurbs Update: Kouzzina Plus Extended Closures at Animal Kingdom, Saratoga Springs

We have four newly listed refurbishments at the Walt Disney World Resort to share with you.

First up is Kouzzina by Cat Cora at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn. The restaurant will be closed for a couple of weeks beginning on November 29 and re-opening on December 15.

Beginning December 3, the Paddock leisure pool at Disney’s Saratoga Springs DVC Resort will close for an extended refurbishment and is currently scheduled to re-open on June 30, 2011.

WDW Character Update: ‘Tangled’ Meet and Greet Postponed

The so-called ‘Play and Greet’ featuring Rapunzel and Flynn Rider from Disney’s Tangled at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is now being reported to be postponed from its original start date of October 15 until October 25.

This was confirmed by cast member extraordinaire and consistently accurate source Paul Chadkin via twitter.

Update 10/12/10 – Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will begin meeting and greeting guests (without ‘play’ elements) on October 15 as originally scheduled, but at the International Gateway in Epcot

WDW Refurb Update: Splash Mountain Closure for January 2011 Announced

With what should come as little to no surprise, the official Walt Disney World website has now posted a closure for Splash Mountain in January for the Magic Kingdom’s attraction annual refurbishment. Currently the site has the attraction as closing on January 3 and re-opening on February 1, 2011, but last-day-of-the-month dates are always suspect and suggest that the closure may continue on into the next month, although this is not the publicly available information at this time. Should we learn of the closure extending into February, we will update the article and note the changes via our official Twitter and Facebook pages.

Walt Disney World Announces Homebuilders for ‘Golden Oak’ Properties

Photo courtesy Walt Disney WorldSeven prestigious homebuilders have been selected by Disney to design and construct the luxury homes in the unique resort community of Golden Oak at Walt Disney World® Resort. Each of the builders is purchasing initial individual homesites, allowing construction of the first showcase and spec homes to begin immediately.

Since Disney announced the project in June, the company has seen significant interest from potential buyers. Inquiries have come from as far away as Brazil and England – and domestically from New York to Texas to California. The selected builders are currently designing home plans in preparation for the launch of homesite sales later this year.
