This holiday season there will be no Santa sweeter than the one on display at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel, an Epcot Resort Hotel. A life-size chocolate Santa – complete with armchair, fireplace and Christmas tree – sculpted entirely out of chocolate will be exhibited in the lobby of the Swan throughout December. A total of 1,200 lbs. of chocolate was used for the piece, which is colored to accurately portray Santa’s vibrant red suit, flowing white beard and green Christmas tree!

The heroes of Toy Story 3 have left the toy box. Woody and Buzz Lightyear meet arch-enemy Lotso the teddy bear on the Future World playground for the 18th Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival March 2 through May 15, 2011, at Walt Disney World Resort.
The popular Disney/Pixar characters hit the sandbox as seven- and eight-foot-tall topiaries at the Epcot front entrance flower bed featuring a sand castle, strawberry-scented field and playground toys. Created by Disney gardeners and topiary experts with bold strokes of seasonal color, the topiary display marks the first time that “Toy Story” characters have been featured at the festival. It’s also the first time in seven years that the front-entrance floral spectacle showcases all-new topiary characters, says festival horticulture manager Eric Darden.
With a contract set to expire on December 11 and contract negotiations which have not seen any significant movement over the past six months, workers from the 20,000+ strong Service Trades Council Union have produced and released an updated edition of ‘MouseTrapped’ to make their appeal to the company and (now) the public at large. At the heart of the dispute appears to be a proposed 3% wage increase vs. rising cost of living expenses including the cost of health care and needed medication. The film also makes some sharp accusations that the company’s emphasis on safety is nothing more than lip service to boost its own public image.

A recent entry in a thread on disboards.com regarding additional talent expected to perform during the Magic Kingdom portion of the 2010 Disney Parks Christmas Day parade whose performances are being taped today and tomorrow. As somewhat expected based on the previous couple of years, the 2010 ‘American Idol’ winner, Lee DeWize, was named as a performer by a cast member who was credited as the source. Although not mentioned by name, it’s probably very reasonable to expect that the ‘little girl’ from ‘America’s Got Talent’ will be ten year old Jackie Evancho who blew the house down with her unbelievable operatic voice as featured in the YouTube video below.
Admittedly it was a very targeted shot in the dark, but the Orlando Sentinel now provides official confirmation from the Walt Disney World Resort that ‘Suite Life On Deck’ co-star Debby Ryan will be performing in the Magic Kingdom portion of the 2010 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade as we first speculated late last month. Ryan was an easy pick for us as she performs in a music video for ‘Deck the Halls’ on the The Search For Santa Paws direct-to-video movie, following in the footsteps of Steve Rushton who had the same honor (give or take) last year.
Walt Disney World VoluntEARS prepare and serve nearly 750 meals a month at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, a tradition that spans at least a decade and one of many ways that Disney lends a helping hand at the Coalition, which provides food and shelter to approximately 650 people a night. Many of them are families with children.
The Walt Disney World Resort takes care of dinner service twice monthly at the Coalition. When a holiday falls on the schedule, Disney chefs find great delight in making the meals even more magical.
The American Legion is teaming up with the Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes to stage the 6th annual Road to Recovery Conference and Tribute at Walt Disney World’s Swan Resort in Orlando, Fla. The Dec. 12-16 event will host more than 400 guests, including many veterans who were severely wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The five-day event promises to make the educational and motivational sessions better than ever for the attendees. They will be treated to a unique, all-expenses-paid program designed to encourage them to look to the future with hope and optimism. Other conference sponsors include General Motors, T-Mobile, Northrup Grumman and Humana Military.
