With the big to-do that is the Downtown Disney-to-Disney Springs makeover, it’s probably easy to forget DTD’s sparser little sibling, Flamingo Crossings. Announced in 2007, with a small website erected in 2009 to hopefully garner interest from businesses, the promised ‘fun-filled, value-oriented, themed tourist district being developed directly outside the western gateway to Walt Disney World Resort’ has done little since to fulfill those promises. The last big news came in October of 2011, when Disney laid down some of the legal groundwork for tenancy as well as announced its agreement with Walgreens.
Just about a year and a half after we first shared details on a new program from The Walt Disney Travel Company and Disney Parks and Resorts North America to assist guests with saving for their future theme park vacations, the ‘Disney Vacation Account’ service is now live at DisneyVacationAccount.com.
WestJet, WestJet Vacations and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts (Canada) today pulled back the curtain on their most exciting adventure yet — a custom-painted Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 series aircraft featuring Mickey Mouse in his most famous role, Sorcerer Mickey.
WestJet, WestJet Vacations and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts (Canada) first forged a relationship in 2004 based on a shared vision of creating memorable experiences for their guests. Known in the social media world as the #MagicPlane, the aircraft will perform its inaugural flight on December 3, 2013, from Calgary to Orlando, Florida, home of Walt Disney World Resort. Following the flight, the Magic Plane will fly throughout WestJet’s domestic, trans-border and international network.
As park of the Disney Parks ‘Disney Side’ campaign, The Walt Disney Company is awarding a five-day/4-night vacation for four to one lucky entrant including theme park tickets, roundtrip airfare, hotel stay, $500 Disney gift card and a Disney PhotoPass CD with a sweepstakes it has dubbed ‘Show Your Ears.’ Five first place winners will receive a $100 Disney gift card.

The official Disney Parks blog today announced that commencing today — and barring any technical issues — Mickey Mouse will not only be meeting and greeting with guests at the Magic Kingdom, but conversing them as well, marking a new major milestone in a very lengthy history of attempting to bring characters to life in all new ways ahead of full NextGen technology implementation.
Yesterday, Disney Parks revealed its newest campaign, ‘Disney Side,’ confirming a Stitch Kingdom report filed back in July of this year.
Beginning at noon today, Disney Parks will unveil its next ‘Disney Side’ campaign move — a six second ‘Disney Side’ video contest to take place via Vine. During the contest period, which kicks off today and runs through the end of the month, Disney will be awarding one winning video $1,000 each day starting October 6 (for a total prize pool of $25,000). In addition, one grand prize winner will receive their choice of either a Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort vacation package plus an additional $10,000. Videos will be judged on creativity (50%), originality (25%) and expression of the Disney Parks ‘Disney Side’ campaign (25%).

We are officially filing this in the ‘not in anyone-you-know’s-lifetime’ file, but on the heels of official confirmation that Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33 will be expanding at the Disneyland Resort beginning next year, Disney has preemptively registered domain names CLUB33DISNEYWORLD.COM and CLUB33WALTDISNEYWORLD.COM, suggesting that the expansion may take up just a tad more space than New Orleans Square’s Court des Anges.
