The official Disney Parks blog today announced that commencing today — and barring any technical issues — Mickey Mouse will not only be meeting and greeting with guests at the Magic Kingdom, but conversing them as well, marking a new major milestone in a very lengthy history of attempting to bring characters to life in all new ways ahead of full NextGen technology implementation.
Yesterday, Disney Parks revealed its newest campaign, ‘Disney Side,’ confirming a Stitch Kingdom report filed back in July of this year.
Beginning at noon today, Disney Parks will unveil its next ‘Disney Side’ campaign move — a six second ‘Disney Side’ video contest to take place via Vine. During the contest period, which kicks off today and runs through the end of the month, Disney will be awarding one winning video $1,000 each day starting October 6 (for a total prize pool of $25,000). In addition, one grand prize winner will receive their choice of either a Disneyland Resort or Walt Disney World Resort vacation package plus an additional $10,000. Videos will be judged on creativity (50%), originality (25%) and expression of the Disney Parks ‘Disney Side’ campaign (25%).

We are officially filing this in the ‘not in anyone-you-know’s-lifetime’ file, but on the heels of official confirmation that Disneyland’s exclusive Club 33 will be expanding at the Disneyland Resort beginning next year, Disney has preemptively registered domain names CLUB33DISNEYWORLD.COM and CLUB33WALTDISNEYWORLD.COM, suggesting that the expansion may take up just a tad more space than New Orleans Square’s Court des Anges.
Actress Maisie Williams, who portrays Arya Stark on the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones,’ is seen here pulling the sword from the stone earlier today at the Magic Kingdom theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
The 16-year-old English actress has starred on the award-winning series since its premiere episode.

The audition will take place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rehearsal Facility at the Walt Disney World Resort on Sunday, August 18, 2013 beginning at 9:00 AM with a second session beginning at 7:00 PM. Cautioning that performers should be available to begin work within the next four weeks, giving the impression that formal meet and greets may start as early as September, the advertisement suggests only those local to central Florida should consider applying.
As Disney Vacation Club launches its latest venture, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa and begins transitioning Disney’s ‘best kept secret’ to ‘vacations you never outgrow,’ a recent permit application to the South Florida Water Management District appears to outline some pretty large plans for one of Walt Disney World’s original resorts, the Polynesian. In short, permit application ‘130729-2’ seeks to include ‘new parking, vehicular circulation, pedestrian pathways, utilities, and fire access. It also includes the installation of pilings along the neighboring lagoon that will support future structures, redesigned landscaping, and new amenity areas to serve the building expansions for this resort hotel,’ with the final portion of the request pretty much saying it all.
Just earlier today, we shared news of several domain registrations and awareness that Disney Parks and Resorts was potentially introducing a new campaign called ‘Disney Side’ thanks to domain registrations such as disneyside.com (which currently links to the Disney Parks website), mydisneyside.net, showmydisneyside.com, showyourdisneyside.com and miladodisney.com.
While we initially had some speculation (just for fun) that this may have been tied to a Star Was promotion, further investigation has linked it to an upcoming campaign fully titled ‘Share Your Disney Side.’
AT&T* and Disney Parks today announced an agreement that makes AT&T the official wireless provider for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort.
Through the agreement, AT&T will have various marketing and branding opportunities, including sponsoring Disney-created soccer and runDisney events at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. In addition, Disney will join AT&T to educate Cast Members and guests about “It Can Wait®,” AT&T’s groundbreaking initiative to educate consumers about the dangers of texting while driving. AT&T and Disney will also collaborate to enhance the experience for the growing number of Disney guests using smartphones and tablets during their visit. Furthermore, Cast Members will use new mobile devices on AT&T’s network to help deliver Disney’s legendary guest service.
Disney Parks and Resorts today advised it has begun pulling the complimentary mini-fridges from all of its hotels at Walt Disney World, Disneyland and Aulani Resorts due to a possible manufacturer’s defect. The only locations unaffected by this move are DVC rooms, the cabins at Fort Wilderness and family suites at Disney’s Art of Animation and All-Star Music resorts. The replacement of said refrigerators is expected to take upwards of four months or more by rough estimation.
In response to the maneuver, Walt Disney World will make available a limited number of refrigerators that may be requested in advance, but cannot be guaranteed.
