Immediate reactions were mixed at best when we first reported from the D23 Expo earlier this year that Disney will be taking its ‘Second Screen Live’ experience to theaters with The Little Mermaid beginning September 20, 2013.
In conjunction with their first official ‘Disney Infinity’ power disc trading event taking place on Saturday, September 7, 2013, Toys ‘R’ Us has announced it will be releasing the second of its exclusive series of ten discs from wave one.
The next disc to be released will be the circular ‘User Control Power Disc’ inspired by the animated tv series ‘TRON: Uprising.’ The disc will provide toys with the chance to accelerate in-game experience by 10%.
Disney Mobile is preparing to launch ‘Where’s My Water? 2,’ the sequel to its mobile gaming sensation which has since spawned a series of spin-offs including ‘Wheres My Perry?’ and ‘Where’s My Mickey?,’ along with several free and holiday editions of the apps.
Since its launch, the original ‘Where’s My Water?’ has also continued to evolve with new levels and new ways to play with expansions such as ‘Cranky’s Story’ and ‘Allie’s Story.’
Thanks to a couple of articles over at VinylmationKingdom, it has come to our attention that in light of Toys ‘R’ Us having an exclusive to the Infinite Crystal line of figures, starting with Lightning McQueen, other retailers are getting into the ‘Disney Infinity’ exclusive business by way of early releases.
GameStop will have an exclusive release window for the Jack Skellington figure beginning October 5, 2013 and running through October 28. His description on the site reads as follows: ‘Boo! Jack Skellington is up to his spooktacular Halloween tricks! Bone up on the action as the creepy King of Halloween uses Jack-o-Lanterns, screams and screeches to scare off rivals. How terrifying do you feel?’ He is now available for pre-order on their website.
Toys ‘R’ Us stores nationwide and Toysrus.com will become the ultimate retail destinations for consumers eager to explore the new, magical worlds of Disney Infinity when it officially launches this Sunday, August 18. Disney Interactive’s new video game platform, which will be available on the Xbox 360 game and entertainment system, the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, Wii U and iPad, integrates collectible figures featuring beloved characters from The Walt Disney Company and Pixar Animation Studios with an immersive video game experience that allows the characters to come to life and interact together – for the first time ever. In the U.S., Toys ‘R’ Us also will be the only place where fans can find figures from the Infinite Crystal Series, an assortment of exclusive, collectible figures that have enhanced in-game abilities, as well as exclusive Power Discs that unlock special in-game powers, gadgets, vehicles and more.
Disney Interactive is bringing together an exciting lineup of musicians to the ‘Disney Infinity’ in-game soundtrack including, Daft Punk, Danny Elfman, Michael Giacchino and more. Each of these songs, initially from Disney & Pixar movies, will be featured in the Toy Box mode – where players can build and customize their own unique virtual world using their favorite character, vehicles, settings and accessories from the Disney & Pixar family.

The Disneyland Resort has announced that on Tuesday, August 6, it will allow Disneyland annual apssholders to preview ‘Disney Infinity’ from Disney Interactive, almost two weeks before its release on August 18.
Attendees to the event will have the opportunity to experience ‘Disney Infinity’ ahead of its release as well as meet with representatives of the Avalanche Team, the game’s development team. In addition, ‘many surprises throughout the event’ are promised.
Capcom has provided us with newly released screens, character art and gameplay trailers from the ‘African Mines’ section of its upcoming release, ‘DuckTales: Remastered,’ available August 13, 2013 as a digital download on Sony PlayStation’s PSN, Nintendo’s eShop for Wii U and for PC; the Microsoft Xbox 360 XBLA edition will be available for download on September 11.
