Today, in celebration of volunteerism, ABC’s Emmy Award-winning talk and entertainment program, “The View,” launched a search for America’s “Ultimate Volunteer.” The show is asking viewers to nominate someone they know who goes above and beyond to help others in their community and who inspires others to action. The winner will receive one million Starpoints from the award-winning SPG loyalty program of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, plus $10,000 spending cash. In addition, the winner and his or her nominator will travel to New York, where the winner will make a special appearance on “The View” the week of October 19.
To nominate someone, viewers can log onto ABC.com/TheView where they will need to submit a 250-word essay explaining why their nominee deserves to be named America’s “Ultimate Volunteer.” Submissions will be accepted between September 16 and September 29 and will be narrowed down to 10 finalists. Viewers will be able to vote for their favorite nominee from October 6 through October 12. America’s “Ultimate Volunteer” will be featured live on “The View” the week of October 19, which will coincide with the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s (EIF) “I Participate” campaign. EIF is mobilizing the entire entertainment community around a groundbreaking, multi-year initiative designed to inspire a new era of service, promote a new way of thinking about service and motivate millions more Americans to volunteer regularly.
America’s “Ultimate Volunteer” will be able to use the one million Starpoints for multiple vacations in Hawaii at any of 11 beautiful Starwood Hotels & Resorts Hawai’i properties. While travel options are virtually limitless, some examples of what the “Ultimate Volunteer” can do with one million Starpoints are 11 weeks at The Westin Maui Resort and Spa, 25 round trip tickets from Los Angeles to Hawaii, and much more.
