‘Beauty and the Beast’ 3D Blu-ray 5-Disc Set to be Released in October

'Beauty and the Beast' on Disney 3D Blu-rayAhead of any official announcement, we have learned that the 5-disc edition of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast: Diamond Edition (now available for pre-order) will be released in 3D Blu-ray format on October 4, 2011, alongside The Lion King.

At first glance, it does not not appear that the 3D Blu-ray edition of Beauty and the Beast will contain any content not already released in the 2D Diamond Edition released last year. Barring any additional information, the only difference appears to be the inclusion of the 3D version which, of course, will require the use of a Sony PlayStation 3 or 3D blu-ray player, a converter and a 3D capable television.

The 3D edition of the film was originally planned for a theatrical release on Valentine’s Day in 2010 but was postponed until 2011 until it was eventually removed from the slate.
