‘Before Tomorrowland’ Novel/Comic to Establish Brad Bird’s ‘Tomorrowland’

Disney's 'Tomorrowland'Amazon is listing Before Tomorrowland, a ‘deluxe novel’ which ‘dives into the history and ancient conspiracy behind the world of Tomorrowland with an action-packed original story.’ The publisher’s description also notes that the title is ‘perfect for fans of Tomorrowland and fans of science fiction and alternative history.’ The 288 page novel — which also includes a 20 page full-color comic insert — is currently slated to be released on April 7, 2015, just shy of two months before the film’s May 22, 2015 release date. The book is a combined effort of Brad Bird (director/co-writer/story), Damon Lindelof (co-writer/story) and Jeff Jensen (story) along with noted comics writer and illustrator, Jonathan Case.

Based on previous photos and the 2013 Disney D23 Expo presentation, alternate reality game and pavilion booth which has found the Tomorrowland campaign promoting artifacts and documents that relate to a blurred reality that combined both the real-world and a re-imagined 1964 World’s Fair and Disneyland’s Tomorrowland, where the film had been partially filmed.

From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s  Tomorrowland, a riveting mystery adventure starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney) — jaded by disillusionment — and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as Tomorrowland. What they must do there changes the world — and them — forever.

Featuring a screenplay by Brad Bird and ‘Lost’ writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof, from a story by Lindelof & Jeff Jensen and Bird, Tomorrowland promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.

The film also stars Hugh Laurie as brilliant scientist David Nix, Raffey Cassidy as Athena and Thomas Robinson as young Frank, as well as Kathryn Hahn, Tim McGraw, Keegan-Michael Key and Judy Greer. Tomorrowlandis produced by Damon Lindelof, Brad Bird and Jeffrey Chernov and directed by Brad Bird, with Jeff Jensen and John Walker serving as executive producers.
