A lot has been made recently of a new series of chapter books ‘continuing’ the adventures of Princess Anna and Queen Elsa from Disney’s Frozen, available from Random House in 2015. While news of the books isn’t exactly news — the only thing to really come of it was the cover for the first title, we also now have a synopsis for the third title in the series and between books 2 and 3, Frozen fans have some interesting adventures to look forward to.
Of course, it all begins with Book 1: All Hail the Queen by Erica David (January 6, 2015), which very anti-climatically continues presumably where the film leaves off. According to the publisher’s description, ‘Now that the castle gates are open, Anna and Elsa are thrilled to be finally getting to know their kingdom. Anna bubbles with enthusiasm for all the things to do and the people to meet in Arendelle, and Elsa loves using her magic to help the town. But sometimes even a queen needs a day off.’
Things definitely get interesting in Book 2: Memory and Magic (January 6, 2015), in which ‘After years apart, Anna and Elsa are finally getting to know each other as sisters. But Anna still wishes she could remember the magical times they had together when they were younger — skating and making snowmen, even in the middle of summer! An eager young troll claims he can restore the memories that Pabbie removed, but Elsa’s not so sure. Maybe it’s time to make new memories!’
Things definitely heat up in Book 3: A Warm Welcome (March 10, 2015) in which ‘Olaf has news for Elsa! He has heard of a summer queen from a summer land with summer magic—someone with similar powers as Elsa’s, who can control fire and heat. He says her land is trapped in an eternal summer. Olaf thinks it sounds great, but Elsa and Anna think she might be in trouble. Either way, a journey is in order!’
There is also a Book 4: The Great Ice Engine slated for May 12, 2015, but a synopsis is not currently available.
