Just so the message wouldn’t get lost in the mail, Disney/Pixar released a new promo for its upcoming release Brave which will bow into theaters on June 22, 2012.
The timing probably couldn’t be better for the film and the holiday as it’s Merida’s strained relationship with her mother, Queen Elinor, that’s at the heart of the film, a taste of which is shown in the clip. Just for good measure, however, we get our first look at young Merida (at age six or so, I believe). Little Merida, for my money, even outshines and outcutes the Merida toddler doll currently on sale from Disney Store.
As if the unwavering love of a mother for her adorable daring toddler or her defiant teenager weren’t enough, the trailer also treats us to a taste of the beautiful ‘Into the Open Air’ as performed by Julie Fowlis on the original motion picture soundtrack (available June 19).
The rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland serve as the backdrop for Brave, a new tale that joins the land’s ancient lore — stories of epic battles and mystical legends passed down for generations. Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, Braveis the grand adventure of Merida, a skilled archer who confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts to discover the true meaning of courage.
