San Diego, CA, July 26, 2009… Television’s #1 animated series for kids, Disney’s “Phineas and Ferb,” will be presenting two programming events this fall, a two-part time travel episode and a viewers’ choice countdown special featuring the Top 10 favorite musical numbers from the hit series. The announcement was made today at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California. Each “Phineas and Ferb” episode will premiere on Disney XD. The series also airs on Disney Channel.
A new two-part episode entitled “Phineas and Ferb’s Quantum Boogaloo” includes guest stars Jennifer Stone (“Wizards of Waverly Place”), Moises Arias (“Hannah Montana”) and Jennifer Grey (“Dirty Dancing”), and features a new extended version of the series’ main title theme song by Grammy-nominated artists Bowling for Soup. In the storyline, Phineas and Ferb travel to the future to find a tool that hasn’t been invented yet. There they encounter future Candace who follows them back through time and finally busts her brothers as they are building their rollercoaster, but also accidentally foils Agent P’s defeat of Dr. Doofenshmirtz, setting off a chain reaction that turns the future into a dystopian society.
As of September 4, fans of the music-filled series, which has featured over 100 original songs, including the Emmy-nominated “Ain’t Got Rhythm,” will be invited to vote for their favorite musical numbers to be showcased in a new viewer-generated special episode entitled “Phineas and Ferb’s Cliptastic Countdown” to premiere in October 2009. Hosted by comedic foils Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Major Monogram, the episode will feature a compilation of the Top 10 favorite music clips selected by fans. Global voting begins Tuesday, September 1 at DisneyChannel.com and DisneyXD.com.
In the series, produced in traditional 2D animation, Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother, Ferb Fletcher, set out to conquer boredom and make every day of their 104-day summer vacation count, even if it means building a giant marine aquarium, creating their own video games or rebuilding an alien aircraft. Their older sister, Candace, makes it her mission to get the boys in trouble but every time without fail, the proof she needs mysteriously disappears by the time she can get Mom to come and see her brothers’ antics. Meanwhile, the family’s pet, Perry the Platypus, may seem like any other domesticated house pet but he has a secret life as suave Agent P, deftly battling the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz to save the Tri-State area.
