Mariah Carey may be the Godmother of the Disney Fantasy, but it’s another sultry siren that guests aboard the ship’s inaugural cruises are more likely to encounter — Jessica Rabbit. The temptress of Toontown’s face graces the label of Disney Cruise Line’s Fantasy-exclusive, limited edition champagne, ‘Ooh La La,’ named after the adults-only lounge in which it will be served. Ooh La La Lounge is described as being ‘reminiscent of an elegant French boudoir,’ and what better spokes
persontoon than Jessica Rabbit herself?
Although Disney Cruise Line has issued a statement noting the champagne will be only be available for a year, we have also been told that is a strict limited edition in size as well. ‘We produced 3,000 bottles and will not produce any more,’ Larry Nocera of Kobrand Corporation, the exclusive US importer of Taittinger Champagne, tells us. It was Nocera that united Disney Cruise Line with Taittinger for the exciting venture.
Guests aboard the Disney Fantasy will be able to enjoy the ‘Ooh La La’ champagne by either the glass or by the bottle. By the glass, it will be served exclusively in the Ooh La La Lounge (located in the Europa district on Deck 4 Aft) for $26 per glass and served with a berry verrine. For guests wishing to purchase a bottle, they may do so at the ship’s gift shops for $118 per bottle. It should be noted that given both the caps on production size as well as time, not to mention being served on board, expect available quantities to be limited per sailing.
Taittinger and Kobrand also provided the giant bottle of champagne used in the Fantasy christening ceremony last night. Known in the industry as a Melchizedek, it is the largest ‘mass-produced’ bottle and holds 30L of champagne, or the equivalent of 40 standard sized bottles.
