Breaking its complete silence on the Frozen Northern Lights subject, Random House has officially released a synopsis for its upcoming Frozen Northern Lights: The Deluxe Novelization (ISBN: 0736436596, 978-0736436595) with just four months to go to its release. As previously reported, after news of the title began to gain awareness, Random House changed the title simply to ‘to be announced’ (TBA), a title it still currently retains. That said, we do now know the following:
‘Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and their friends from Disney Frozen are helping Little Rock the troll earn his tracking crystal. Join them as they embark on a mountain adventure under the Northern Lights! This special novelization features 8 pages of spectacular photos of the real Northern Lights in a beautiful jacketed hardcover format. It’s perfect for children ages 6 to 9!’
While the fact that the publisher’s description mentions it includes 8 pages of the real northern lights does put a damper on the theory that a Frozen short is on the way — as we would expect to see stills from the production instead — it’s also just as questionable. As beautiful and special as the northern lights are, does any children’s novelization really require 8 pages of them? Assuming two photos per page, that’s sixteen in all. And none of this explains why Disney and Random House have been super tight lipped and secretive about it when there is more information available for titles — including Frozen — that are being published afterwards.
