Disney/ABC Television Group Receives Three Golden Globe Award Nominations

The ABC Television Network’s “Modern Family,” the critically acclaimed comedy series that takes an honest and often hilarious look at the complexities of modern day families, received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series Comedy or Musical. The series has also been recently honored with an AFI Award as one of the Top 10 television programs of 2009, in addition to three Writers Guild Awards nominations, including Best Comedy Series and Best New Series nominations.

The other two nominations for ABC were in the individual categories: “Cougar Town” star and executive producer Courteney Cox received her first ever Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical; and “Lost’s” Michael Emerson was also a first-time Golden Globe nominee for his portrayal of Ben Linus, leader of the Others. Emerson won his first Emmy Award for the role in September. “Cougar Town” and “Lost” are produced by ABC Studios.

The 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be presented Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Los Angeles.
