The big PhotoPass news keeps on coming and this one is sure to disappoint even more people than the last item we reported about the extension fees.
A Stitch Kingdom reader has made us aware that the link to pre-order PhotoPass is no longer working. Sure enough, the page now automatically gets re-directed to this page which specifically affirms the already established policy that the offer is meant solely for those who are invited to participate by email.
On one hand, we do hope that Disney’s PhotoPass reconsiders this popular option, but on the other hand, the policy has officially always been limited to those who were invited, so it was only a matter of time before the next step was taken to prevent the public at large from accessing the offer. Afterall, it really did make no sense for PhotoPass to offer the PhotoCD at the regular price (let alone increase it) while continuously allowing anyone to order at the discounted rate as well. This is also not the first time PhotoPass has attempted to restrict the offer from the public: initially the page was able to be indexed by search engines such as Google, but the page was eventually modified to prevent that from occurring.
UPDATE: It appears that the offer is being extended to anyone with a Walt Disney World vacation package. Guests are reporting getting a link in email to pre-order the PhotoCD at a discounted rate or receiving a special PhotoPass card along with their mailed package materials. It appears the discounted rate is now approximately $120 for pre-ordering.
