In the following clip, which has been known to induce giggles at some presentations I’ve seen it at, the Sirens (led here by Beau Garrett), use their magic touch to strip Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) of his civvies and suit him up in the skin-tight light suit before sending him off to the game grid where his only instruction is to ‘survive.’ Before he can head out to certain doom, however, he must first receive his identity disc along with specific instructions which always seemed to me should be known by a program at this cycle, especially since it was explicitly pointed out that he didn’t have one earlier in the film when first picked up by the Recognizer. Luckily for the audience, who needs to be aware that a program can be de-rezzed for losing its disc (despite the fact that Sam hasn’t already for seemingly misplacing his previous one), it appears programs are cursed with limited memory allocation.
TRON: Legacy stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde and will be released in theaters nationwide on December 17.
