Disney’s ‘Frozen: Sing-Along’ Edition on DVD in November with All New Bonus Feature

'Frozen: Sing-Along Edition' on DVDAhead of any official announcement, Disney Store has begun taking pre-orders for a DVD format of the Frozen: Sing-Along edition that enjoyed a theatrical run earlier this year. According to Disney Store, the DVD will be available to own on November 18, 2014.

According to the DVD’s description on the item page, it will include the full theatrical sing-along cut as well as a digital copy of the film. Also promised is an unspecified, ‘never-before-seen’ bonus.

Based on prior experiences with Disney Store, the lack of a Blu-ray version on the site does not preclude one from being available through other retailers as Disney Store has been slow to adopt the Blu-ray format.

Given the surprise appearance of the (effectively) re-release for a November date, however, it’s becoming increasingly less hopeful that an October release of the 3D Blu-ray version of Frozen can be anticipated, however, especially as recent home releases have already been announced for November (though we are aware of a couple of yet-unannounced television releases making their home video debut in October as well, so all is not quite lost yet).

As always, we will provide more information as it becomes available to us.

  1. Ideally, the deluxe 3D version would bow on November 18th alongside this Sing Along DVD Version. It would make sense to have the Sing Along as a “Bonus Feature” on the deluxe Blu-ray (since you could have that simply be a feature you turn on or off on the Blu-ray). Keeping my fingers crossed, after Maleficent I’m genuinely worried that Disney is quietly abandoning the 3D Format.

According to Disney’s official website for Frozen, the sing along DVD will have “Breaking the Ice: The Real Making of Frozen”. This feature was originally announced for the March 18 BD/DVD release but then got taken off before the release, which unfortunately made “The Making of Frozen” music video seem like a cruel joke.
