On January 14, 2014, the original motion picture soundtrack to Disney’s Frozen, as well as the single ‘Let It Go,’ were recognized by the RIAA as being certified gold (selling more than 500,000 physical copies). To commemorate the event as well as the success of the film and the album in general, Disney held a private showcase event last night the Vibrato Grill Jazz Club in Los Angeles.
Accompanied by a live orchestra conducted by Dave Metzger, ‘For the First Time in Forever: The Music of Disney’s Frozen,’ saw live performances by Kristen Bell (voice of Anna), Idina Menzel (voice of Elsa), Josh Gad (voice of Olaf) and Santino Fontana (voice of Hans). Invited guests included songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, composer Christophe Beck, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee, producer Peter Del Vecho and executive producer John Lasseter, in addition to a host of celebrity guests such as Darren Criss, Sam Tsui, Jane Lynch, Sarah Hyland, Sean Hayes
In theaters since November 27, 2013, Frozen has earned more than $900 million worldwide, while the original motion picture soundtrack has held the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 chart for four non-consecutive weeks, and is the longest-running No. 1 film soundtrack since 2003. Worldwide, the album has sold more 1 million units and 3.4 million tracks. At iTunes, the album has peaked at No. 1 in more than 30 countries. February 9, 2014 in Los Angeles, California.
