Humana Announces Winners of ‘G-Force’ Premiere Contest
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three active kids are heading to Hollywood to join stars from “G-FORCE” on the red carpet. Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), a leading health-benefits company, today announced the winners of its “Operation Planet Savers” game, the latest in a series of games developed by Humana’s Games for Health team.
Winners of the “Operation Planet Savers” game will attend the red carpet premiere of Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “G-FORCE” movie on July 19 in Hollywood. Winners were chosen through a random drawing of those who played the game since it started on June 1. ”Operation Planet Savers” is part of a unique collaboration with Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and is designed to impact children’s health in a fun and innovative way.
The winners are:
- Hailey Still, age 9, of Louisville, KY
- Heather Edwards, age 10, of Hemet, CA
- Shannon Larsuel, age 10, of Altadena, CA
Each winner will get to walk the red carpet at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood for the premiere of “G-FORCE” and be interviewed by Radio Disney about their experience. Winners (who will be accompanied by a parent or guardian) will also go on a tour of Radio Disney Studios in Los Angeles.
“G-FORCE” is a high-octane comedy adventure in Disney Digital 3DTM about the latest evolution of a covert government program to train animals to work in espionage. Players of “Operation Planet Savers,” OPS for short, complete weekly training missions that require real-world activity and train the young game-players to be like G-Force agents in the film.
“The success of OPS so far has been tremendous. We want to give kids the opportunity to keep playing this game because it’s much more than just an online game – it’s an opportunity for kids to enjoy their summer break in an energetic way by inspiring active play,” said Grant Harrison, vice president of consumer innovation at Humana. “We know that inactivity in kids can impact their long-term health, which is one reason we’ve created a game that gets kids off the couch, out of the house and on a mission.”
The first phase of the game is now complete with the winners headed to Hollywood. Phase two – known as the “Master Series” – is now underway, with weekly prizes of either a Nintendo DSi and game, or an 8G iPod Touch.
The “Master Series” of OPS will continue through July 26. Weekly missions in the “Master Series” are each designed to help players master important skills such as technology, reconnaissance and strategy. The Humana Games team will continue to select an “Agent of the Week” and feature him or her talking about their mission on the OPS website.
The game is free and open to anyone under age 16, but is geared to 7-9 year olds. The OPS website is secure, and every child who wishes to play must have a parent or guardian’s permission before they can embark on their “missions.” For more information, please visit www.humanagames.com and click on “Operation Planet Savers.”
