Earlier this evening, during the live telecast of the 86th Annual Academy Awards presentation, Broadway diva and Tony Award winner Idina Menzel took to the Dolby Theatre stage to perform the Oscar-winning song ‘Let It Go’ from Disney’s Frozen. Embedded below, you can find the televised performance of ‘Let It Go,’ also courtesy of AMPAS, which earned Menzel a standing ovation from the A-List audience.
The song took home the Oscar for ‘Best Original Song’ for the songwriting team of Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. That win also provided Robert Lopez with the coveted EGOT — a combination of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards — making Lopez the youngest and quickest (outside of honorary wins) to join the very small group of talent to earn the coveted achievement.
Disney’s Frozen also claimed the award for Best Animated Feature, which represents the first win for Walt Disney Feature Animation in that category since it was introduced in 2001. The wins were accentuated by box office news that the film has crossed the $1B mark worldwide, with an opening in Japan still to come at the end of March.
