E3: ‘Disney Infinity’-Themed Console Controllers by PDP; TRU to Get Exclusive Power Discs

'Disney Infinity' Xbox Controller by PDPPerformance Designed Products today announced the suite of ‘Disney Infinity’ peripherals they will be debuting alongside the launch of the console video game on August 18, 2013.

While we have previously shared some news about the peripherals, most of which are currently available for pre-order, but have now provided with additional information on other items, including the themed controller for Microsoft’s Xbox 360, as seen here. Themed controllers will be available for both Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii and Wii U and will be available for this holiday season.

The Xbox 360 controller is decorated with artwork that highlights some of ‘Disney Infinity’s’ sure-to-be more popular characters and features special backlighting that will ‘bring the characters to life.’ It includes vibration capability and has a ten foot cable with breakaway. It will retail for $34.99.

The Nintendo Wii / Wii U controller features a removable faceplate that will accommodate one of six included art inserts. Designed and contoured for both large and small hands, it has a silky elastomer finish and includes a wrist strip. Suggested retail is $29.99.

PDP will also be offering variants of its peripherals as exclusives to some retailers. Toys ‘R’ Us is already advertising its exclusives, among which is a variant on the Power Discs album which will hold 30 discs as opposed to the 20 that were previously known to be released as part as wave one.

The Toys R Us exclusive Power Discs are as follows:

Environmental (hexagon): Stitch’s Surfboard, Mike [Wazowski]‘s Car, Hook’s Ship, TRON: Uprising (Terrain) and TRON: Uprising (Sky)

Character enhancements (round): Scrooge McDuck’s Lucky Dime (character gains economy 20% faster), Merlin’s Summon (economy pick-up area doubled), Emperor Zurg’s Wrath (weapons do 15% more damage), TRON: Uprising User Control (experience gained 10% faster) and C.H.R.O.M.E. Damage Increaser (weapons do 10% more damage).

At this time it is unclear how the exclusive discs will be made available or if this means future waves have been divvied up amongst retailers as exclusives or if Disney Interactive has simply accommodated for more power discs.
