Unconfirmed: Early ‘John Carter’ Screenings to be Offered at Walt Disney World
It appears to us that several screenings of Disney’s John Carter will be offered at the Walt Disney World Resort prior to its theatrical release on March 9, 2012. The as-of-yet-unconfirmed, unannounced news comes to us by way of a newly established website/domain, wdwscreeningtickets.com. While it’s the wdw prefix that leads us to believe the events will take place at Walt Disney World, the site also actually directs to disneynow.com which is used exclusively by Disney Parks and Resorts to the best of our knowledge.
Unfortunately the site offers zero information as to whom the screenings will be offered to and it’s not possible to sign up for any of the screenings as of yet, but a likely possibility is that it will be an opportunity offered via the official Disney Parks blog. If this is the case, it’s also reasonable to expect that other surprises such as an introduction to the film could be made.
The only information currently available is that the screenings will be held on both March 3 and March 4 at 10 am, 2 pm and 6 pm each day.
From Academy Award®winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes John Carter — a sweeping action adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). John Carter is based on a classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, whose highly imaginative adventures served as inspiration for many filmmakers, both past and present. The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.
