katieholmesdbaotd 160x106 First Look: Katie Holmes in Dont Be Afraid of the DarkIn honor the film’s presence at San Diego Comic-con, Miramax has just sent us this rather chilling photo of Katie Holmes in its upcoming release Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Directed by Troy Nixey and Produced/co-written by Guillermo del Toro, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is a remake of a horror telefilm in which about a little girl (Bailee Madison) who is sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in the old mansion they are renovating, only to unwittingly unleash malevolent creatures bent on destroying all of them.

Nixey and del Toro will be on hand to present a first look at the film at San Diego Comic-con in Hall H on Friday from 2:15 pm – 3:45 pm.

Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark is slated to open nationwide on January 21, 2011
