Walt Disney World Anniversary Pin Release Information (and How to Get Into Magic Kingdom Early)
While the Magic Kingdom will open at 9 am for most folk on October 1st, 2011, for its 40th Anniversary extravaganza, the fortunate folk who managed to secure a pre-opening breakfast at Cinderella’s Royal Table and Crystal Palace will be happy to know that the privilege is also being extended to those who secure the right to purchase some of the many limited edition pins as well as the very limited number of Anniversary custom Vinylmation figures by Noah.
According to the official What’s HapPINing blog, operated by Disney Trading, wristbands will be required for purchasing the collectibles (which will be available at the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon in Frontierland) and guests are invited to line up beginning at 6 am just outside the Magic Kingdom turnstiles for the opportunity to receive their wristband and a specific time to purchase their items, starting at 9 am. To accommodate for the 9 am start time in Frontierland, guests with wristbands will be able to enter the park beginning at 7:45 am and line up at the Liberty Square bridge where they will be led into Frontierland by a Cast Member at 9 am (admission to the park is required as always).
The blog entry also goes into specifics on what kind of purchase limitations are being placed on the pins and Vinylmation, although it’s generally two items per person with some exceptions on the more restrictive edition sizes, in which case it’s a maximum of one per person, wristband required in all cases.
The pins, which can be previewed here, join a select line of merchandise being marketed specifically for the Anniversary event, most of which can be seen in the artist signing events taking place on September 30, October 1 and October 2. In addition, the Disney Parks blog has shared two commemorative t-shirts which will also be available online at DisneyStore.com exclusively for the weekend.
The Magic Kingdom park, which will open at 9 am, will close at midnight and feature other exclusive offerings such as a special cupcake created just for the day, a special ending to the Wishes fireworks spectacular and a special sing-a-long presentation in front of Cinderella Castle beginning at 10 am, immediately preceded by a ‘character cavalcade,’ a parade of many Disney characters, marching up along Main Street.
