Exclusive Photos/Video: The Muppets Take Over ‘Good Morning America’
The morning of November 17, 2011 brought lots of mayhem to Times Square as well as the ‘Good Morning America’ Studio as ABC’s popular national morning program was taken over by its distant cousins, the Muppets for the duration of the show.
We were on hand to capture some of the mayhem (and magic) as Muppeteers such as Steve Whitmire, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson and Bill Barretta brought many of the classic characters to life in the heart of Times Square. Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, Swedish Chef, Pepe, Fozzie Bear and many more were on hand for the event which included a live performance of ‘Mahna Mahna’ and Swedish Chef joining celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse for the ‘America’s Pie of Emeril’s Eye’ segment.
Below is a gallery of some of the moments we captured on camera that you weren’t likely to see on television, which includes not only performances, but rehearsals and a behind-the-scenes look at how the magic comes to life on the small screen (and silver screen come November 23). At the end of the gallery are some additional publicity images provided to us by ABC.
We also have some video from the event which includes a look at the ABC marquee (where Four Square check-ins from some favorite, furry celebs intertwined with the usual greetings from viewers) and a rehearsal performance of ‘Mahna Mahna’
