Tickets went on sale earlier this evening for the annual New York International Children’s Film Festival in New York City today and, continuing their gracious participation, Disney is allowing the festival to screen Muppets Most Wanted on March 15, almost a full week before it debuts in theaters. In addition to the early screening of the sequel, the festival is offering a screening of the previous 2011 film, The Muppets, but as a special sing-along edition with guest Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords, who wrote the songs for both films.
While that pretty much sums it up for Disney’s participation (so far), it’s just a drop in the bucket when it comes to the amazing offering this year’s film festival has lined up. Also being shown is an early screening of Rio 2, the New York premiere of the English dub of the Oscar nominated Ernest & Celestine with Q&A with director Benjamin Renner and an afternoon with Laika which includes a screening of Coraline, an exclusive sneak peek at The Boxtrolls, a workshop and Q&A session — not to mention many other special screenings and premieres.
