‘Pocahontas,’ ‘Rescuers,’ ‘Aristocats’ and Other Classics on Blu-ray in August

While official announcements have yet to be made, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has dated some of the blu-ray adaptations of animated classics from The Walt Disney Company.

Of all the releases this year, the most anticipated is arguably Pocahontas. Coupled with Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World.

Bonus Features include:

  • “Little Hiawatha” Cartoon Short
  • Deleted Song
  • The Music Of Pocahontas
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Audio Commentary
  • PLUS Classic DVD Bonus Features
  • DVD Disc 1: The Music of Pocahontas
  • DVD Disc 2: Pocahontas II DVD Storybook

The Pocahontas/Pocahontas II blu-ray combo pack will be available to own August 21, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com.

On August 21, 2012, Disney will also release Lady and the Tramp 2: Scamps Adventure, The Rescuers: 35th Anniversary Edition (The Rescuers / The Rescuers Down Under) and The Tigger Movie. Bonus features for the first two releases have not yet been released, but The Tigger Movie Bounce-a-rrrific Special Edition blu-ray is set to include:

  • A Tigger Tale – The Filmmakers share what it’s like to be part of Tigger’s extended family
  • Disney Intermission – Pause the movie and discover fun family games and activities
  • 10 Winnie The Pooh Mini-Adventures (DVD has five)
  • ‘Round My family Tree’ Sing-Along (also on DVD)
  • Kenny Loggins Music Video: ‘Your Heart Will Lead You Home’

Finally — or feline-ly — closing the month’s releases, also on August 21 — is Disney’s The Aristocats. Bonus features will include a virtual kitten game, a ‘newly discovered’ song and more.

  1. According to disneydvd.com, Pocahontas blu ray will release August 7th and Aristocats on August 28th. Also Pocahontas will be released on July 3rd through Disney Movie Club.

    • Yes, the Disney site is apparently incorrect. Amazon has everything dated for the 21st and the Pocahontas Facebook page posted the 21st today and the description for the Aristocats trailer on YouTube also says the 21st. Plus the DVD site has a record of being wrong in the past unfortunately, so I’m currently sticking with the 21st.
